“Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We were there President's Day weekend 2012, and the establishment had just changed from the 'Fortune Valley' to the 'Reserve' the week or two before. The remodeling came out very nice, One thing I like about the Reserve is that the various large rooms break up the casino floors in a manner that makes the place seem not so much like a large casino. The staff was all very nice.

“Getting a (quiet) remodel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

This place has been very decent in the past and now with a reno underway it will be really nice.
Reno was active when we were there and we never heard a thing. First trip down the hall in the AM I was surprised to see some rooms getting painted, new carpet about to be laid... we were not disturbed at all.
I like that the rooms are not cookie cutter, every one we've been in has a different layout. Most are larger than average, altho this trip we were in a small (standard) sized one. Still nice enough with an awesome shower head, nice linens and soaps etc. Clean. Comfortable beds.
Hope to see TV's upgraded to flat screens - - always have had a fridge.

Room Tip: Request to not view parkade. NO kids allowed - it's a casino.

“The only reason it got 3 instead of 4 stars”

Is that it was a little dull for a casino, and the drinks were horribly watered down. We went to see our friend's band play and it was dead dead dead in there. Not a lot of excitement going on. Tables were dead, and I hate slots. Otherwise it was fine - there was no problems with check in (we got there early and they still had a room) The shower head was awesome - not some little crappy hotel shower head, It was nice. Everything was clean. Breakfast in the.....Buffet was good. The only thing I would suggest was a place to get better food when the 1am Munchies hit. All they had was a place for sandwiches. Because of it's location, walking is out of the question at 1am in the wintertime.

“Not as nice as the last time I visited!”

We stayed 1 night and were extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of our room.
Check in was quick. We received a King non-smoking room. When we arrive in our room it was very hot in the room. Someone had turned the heat way up. The bathroom floor had long black hair all over it. We let the front desk know and they had it cleaned up by the time we came back. When I got up in the morning there was a power outage, definitely not the fault of the hotel. My husband came down later and told me that I was lucky the lights were out because the bathtub and walls in shower were full of long black hair. This tells me that housekeeping is not doing their job. I only hope that the housekeeper changed the sheets before I arrived.

The food in the restaurant was not very good.

The bed was more comfortable than the last time I stayed there.

“Beautiful rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

We found the rooms at the Fortune Valley Hotel and Casino to be very spacious and clean. We didn't notice any noise from either outside or inside the building when in our room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating also. However; the food in the restaurant was not the best. We had the prime rib and it tasted rather "old" and tough, as if it had been cooked earlier and reheated. The service was good and the breakfast was large and very reasonably priced. We did miss the salad bar they had last year and found the new restaurant to be dark and not as welcoming.
