“Great Location, Great Accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We have been using this Hotel for more than 10 years and can thoroughly recommend it. Location is perfect both for the mountains, and the town. Located right on the base of Peak 9, its less than 3 mins walk from the Ski storage in the basement to the Quicksilver lift and with snow you can ski back right to the door. The Town is a very short walk (5 mins) to the heart of Main street.
Hotel is apartment based and as some people have mentioned the buildings are a little older than some in town but the apartments themselves are extremely spacious and well appointed with a fully equipped kitchen and (we have a 1 bed unit) 2 bathrooms and sleeps 6 people comfortably, 2 LCD Tvs, DVD player, Jacuzzi, Free WiFi.
Services offered by the Hotel are also good, especially for kids, with a games centre (ping-Pong, Wii, Fussball etc) and daily craft lessons (free or v small charge), Video nights, free popcorn etc,,,, Staff are all friendly and very helpful.
Special mention for the Charter Sports team in the basement of the building, whilst probably not the cheapest rental place in town the location is so convenient that you'd be missing a trick not to use them, they also store all of your kit for you so that works well too.
Will be booking again for next year.

Room Tip: Ask in advance for a room over looking Maggie pond towards the mountains

“Great stay!!”

We stayed in an efficiency unit at the Marriott during the summer. It was a great room for a family of 4 (2 small children). The kitchen was great for an efficiency unit! Only complaint would be the balcony. It was very small and a little dangerous for small children. We wouldn't let our children go out on it unless one of us were with them. The resort was beautiful and within walking distance to everything!

“Great location, comfortable suites”

This is such a great location - you just walk over to the lifts! Charter Sports is on the bottom floor of the hotel - so we just rented our gear there and went - and they were really friendly and helpful. There were lots of activities for our 11 year old son and nice social events - like a wine and cheese happy hour one night. The staff was very hospitable and friendly. The heated pool with hot tubs was perfect for after skiing. And for dinner, there were plenty of restaurants to walk over too.

Parking is very tight in the garage - but once we parked, we never left. And while the decor is a little dated, it's still very clean and our villa was well stocked with all the ammenities we would need.

“Lovely chalet and fantastic location. Very picturesque!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Absolutely love hotel/chalet! We had a beautiful chalet with a balcony overlooking the lake and mountains which was amazing as the first couple of nights my husband and I couldn't sleep due to altitude sickness. We saw sunrises which was perfect as we could enjoy the view from our bed.

The chalet was well equipped. A lovely bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, fully kitted out kitchenette and a decent sized TV in the bedroom lounge area.

The hotel/chalet is right in the middle of Breckenridge and close to a lot of the main attractions like the peaks and restuarants. As there's no hotel restaurant, we went out to eat a lot making breakfast in the chalet. The Breck Brew is only over the road and there are amazing restaurants and bars within a couple of minutes.

The only reason I didn't give this a full excellent rating was mainly due to a bad incident we had. As my husband and I spent time in Denver before coming to Breck, and were then heading off to Nebraska for a wedding, we did some laundry in their self-service laundry rooms. Unfortunately, there was a fault which led to our clothes being mostly destroyed despite checking the machine before placing our clothes in. We left the laundry room until the clothes cycle was done and returned to find that there was a loose spring in the machine and that all our clothes were covered in a cardboard mushed up lint. When we went to complain, the lady in reception obviously didn't know what to do and didn't really seem to care about us and how upset we were. It wasn't till we requested to see a manager that we got things sorted out. It took a while and a wait but the manager assured us that the machine would get checked and that our clothes would be sent to be cleaned. The clothes came back to us, some were ok but I had to throw half of my clothes out. The manager refunded us $40 to cover some damage which didn't cover what I had to throw out but it was a good gesture. In the end I was happy with how she dealt with it but I was sorely disappointed that the staff on duty that evening were so inept. So my advice would be is if you stay here and decide to do laundry, check the machine and STAY in the laundry room until it's done so you know no one can tamper with it.

Room Tip: Ask for Big Horn block! Rooms have balconies overlooking the lake and mountains.

“Love the Mountain Valley Lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

This was our third year in a row of trading into Mountain Valley Lodge via Interval International for a week starting the Friday after Thanksgiving. The location is wonderfully convenient to the Quicksilver Super 6 lift and Village for the kids' snowboarding lessons. The ski shop on site is friendly and helpful, and stores your gear so that all you have to do is pick it up and walk across the bridge to the lift. The location is an easy walk to the shops and restaurants. The units are nice with beautiful views, and the staff is nice and helpful. The kids enjoyed the craft classes, movies, games and other activities in the lounge area. I would certainly recommend MVL to friends and family; the proof is in the pudding on this one, since last year we arranged for a friend's family to come at the same time, and this year my wife's parents and sister got a nearby unit for the week. You can't go wrong with this resort. Also, as a location review, the week after Thanksgiving is great in Breck. The mountain usually has good snow (not so much this year, but usually more snow by then), and after the Thanksgiving weekend crowd leaves on Sunday, the town and mountain are semi-deserted. If you are looking for crowds and lines, you should go between Christmas and New Years. If you like to be able to eat wherever you want with little wait, to have no lines at the lifts and minimal crowds on the slopes, this is the time to go. Also, the crowd is so light that you can schedule kids for group lessons and get a ski or snowboard lesson that is either one-on-one or at most two kids in a group for the group lesson price, a real bargain.

Room Tip: The room right above the ski shop is nice.
