We rented unit 1405 for 7 days in December. While the location is ideal, we will never stay at a ResortQuest location again. The unit was disappointing, as was the service and the amenities of the resort. THE UNIT: The advertised in-unit “high speed internet” was definitely slower than dial-up, when it even worked at all. Numerous calls to the front desk didn’t produce any solution to the problem. The living room carpet had long, wide tears and numerous stains on it. There was a missing lock on the bathroom door and a broken drawer in the bathroom. One of the window screens was bent and broken, so we tried to fix it. The kitchen lacked any food storage containers, so we bought disposable containers at the grocery store. THE BUILDING: ResortQuest advertised that there are common laundry facilities in each building. What they failed to mention was that there is one washer and dryer PER BUILDING. We finally gave up on the idea of doing any laundry. In addition, the only way to get to the front desk or the exercise room or on-site hot tubs was to either take a hefty walk outside or to walk through the dirty underground parking garage. THE RESORT: The on-site hot tubs (not the shared Marriott hot tubs) contained dirty water that was heated to less than safe levels. After the first night, we chose not to go in them again. THE SERVICE: There was a 5 hour power outage on day 5 of our stay. The land lines were also down. There was no communication from the front desk and there are no emergency lights in the underground garage. People were attempting to load up cars using the light from their phones. On day 6 of our stay, the fire alarm was sounded in our building, the elevator doors were locked shut, and all of the guests rushed down the stairwells and out into the cold. Due to the quick exit, there were a number of families with young children sitting outside the building with less than adequate clothing for the weather conditions. About 10 minutes after the alarm sounded, we headed to the building with the front desk to find out what was going on. The employees had no idea that the building had been evacuated until we pointed out the fire engine sitting on the street next to Building 1. OUR ADVICE: Stay at the Marriott Mountain Valley lodge across Maggie Pond from Main Street Station. We have stayed there on a number of occasions and very much regret not staying there on this vacation.
