“'A' for effort - 'C' for needs more Capital”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed my stay at Boulder Outlook, and applaud the hoteliers' efforts to create a unique, very eco-friendly lodging destination and experience, but truth (as I see it) be told, to really pull it off they will need more capital, so as to be able to give the 60'/70's era buildings that make up the property the major refurbishment that they really need. The post modern paint job and other surface cosmetic touches beg for a more thoroughgoing overhaul.

A great touch, for example, is that the chair for lounging in my room is a recliner - the irony is that it is broken, and so, doesn't recline. The belgian waffle maker in the restaurant where the free breakfast is served is another great touch, and yet its timer wasn't working properly, and so, I had to guess at whether or not the required two and one half minutes to bake my waffle just right had passed.

My king bed was very comfortable, and the fitness room had the equipment I needed for my workout. Similarly, the indoor pool and hot tub were great. The best attributes of all were the friendly and helpful front desk clerk and the breat taking view of the sunrise striking the mountains right outside the hotel's front door. As such, I wish the money to totally redo the decor and the fixtures was in hand for these owners - as I know they would put it to good use.

“Loved this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Six of us stayed here 8 days on last minute business. The staff was extremely flexible as our job doesn't guarantee we'd be back everynight. We didn't make it back one night and they didn't charge us for our room but had rooms for us the next day. I love the earth friendly aspect of this hotel. They offered recycling in the rooms and at breakfast (even composted the food) They had bikes to borrow. The breakfast is wonderful. It's not a new hotel and the rooms are just average but comfortable. Loved the natural bathroom products. We stayed during the fourmile canyon fire and I witnessed the staff pretty much just give the rooms away evacuees to the really needy (they were already giving rooms half price). It was wonderful to see a business take care of their community. My group stayed in more expensive, fancier hotels during the trip but this hotel was my favorite!

“Sustainable, green-minded, eclectic to the core. Bring your BIKE!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Location to CU is great but it isn't close to Pearl St., they are a very green minded hotel but if you are looking for a place to hang-out you may consider a close review of all the reviews and photos first. For those looking for a place to sleep and grab a decent free continental breakfast this is the spot. Note for travelers with Dogs, this is the prefect hotel - rooms are tile, enclosed dog walking area with bags available and easy access to a multi-use path in front.

Good - 1. A major bike lane passes right in front of the hotel giving direct access to Boulder in the best way possible, on two wheels. The also rent bikes. 2. Indoor pool and BOULDERING area! 3. Free breakfast and bar/restaurant on-site.

Bad - It has seen many years, this was a Holiday Inn at one time.

“Stay Smart and Sustainable at the Outlook”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

No hotel in Boulder could better represent the tech saavy, civic-minded, and true green values here than the Outlook. If you're looking to feel the pulse of Boulder both while out on the town as well as back at your hotel, then the Outlook should be your choice. Don't think for a moment, however, that a hotel with a focus on "zero waste" isn't any fun. The Outlook is a whole lotta fun. Great atrium and pool area, great restaurant and complimentary breakfast,
great people--both guests and staff. The location, too, couldn't be better for gettting to know Boulder. The Outlook is a stone's throw away from the intersection of Broadway and Baseline. Go 2 minutes north on Broadway, and you're at the heart of the university. Go 3 more minutes north on Broadway, and you're at the heart of the town--the Pearl Street mall. Go 5 minutes west on Baseline and you're at the gorgeous Chautaqua park. Then, when you to head back to Denver, you just hop on the 36 and drive less than thirty minutes south. During our visit to Colorado, we stayed at more expensive hotels in both Vail and Estes Park, but liked the Boulder Outlook by far the best! Be smart in Boulder and book a room at the Outlook.
