I stayed here one night while in Boulder on business.
The room was more than adequate, with a super comfy king bed, and a large bathroom. The bathroom fixtures had a retro-modern look to them, which was quite funky!
Everything was nice and clean, except the disgusting carpet in the room, which really seems to have spent a few years too many on the floor! When you can clearly see the tracks from the door into the room, it's time to change. This is unfortunate, because otherwise the hotel is just fine.
Breakfast featured a variety of hot and cold items, including waffles and scrambled eggs.
This hotel is certainly convenient for a short stay in Boulder. For a more even quality and cleaner carpets, try the Best Western Boulder Inn instead.
We've visited Boulder for years, often paying too much for lodging. But we now have stayed three times at the Golden Buff in the past year or so, and it's our only choice now. Not luxurious, but it's superbly located and reasonably priced. Ask for one of the spacious newer rooms in the back of the hotel, where the parking is convenient and you're away from any noise. Also, the free breakfast has to rank among the best we've had anywhere, with multiple hot choices (eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy, excellent green chili, etc.), juices, yogurts, waffle-maker, even two microwaves so you don't have to wait. The breakfast comes from the adjacent restaurant, so it's fresh. Just a couple minutes from downtown or the CU campus.
We stayed two nights in one of the "suite" rooms. The rooms were large enough for three of us to be comfortable. Two sinks in the bathroom were convenient. A plus for me is that the bathroom fan doesn't automatically turn on with the light so there wasn't that fan noise. The room was clean and had better lighting for reading than many hotel rooms. The chairs were uncomfortably squishy and low and difficult to rise from. In-room WiFi access was a plus. The air conditioning units were older so did not cycle on and off, but the fan ran continuously either cold or hot air. The maids had left alot of their cleaning materials on the table which we had to return to them the following morning and the drinking glasses had not been changed before we checked in.
The positives are that the room was clean and roomy, easy check-in process, and free breakfast. The negatives are that this is a very dated hotel or rather motel. This reminds me of traveling into the 1970's with the heating unit under the window which is either too hot or too cold and your car parked right outside your door. Yes, it is a value but not sure I would return.
