“An older hotel and nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Boulder is usually a place we pass through on our way north from Denver on the way to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. This time, we actually stayed a night in Boulder to hang out on Pearl Street and see a few of the sites we hadn’t visited before including Celestial Seasonings, Leanin’ Tree, and the National Atmospheric Research Center. This hotel was located right on the highway and the location was fairly central. Since we were here on the evening of July 4, we followed the crowds and walked over the University of Boulder to watch the fireworks, which was nice. This seemed like an older hotel and while the room was acceptable, it wasn’t anything special, although it was the best price I could find for the holiday weekend. The freezer of the room’s small refrigerator didn’t seem to work very well as the ice tray didn’t freeze overnight. I would stay here again, but only after looking for something better. I hope visitors from abroad don't believe this is really America's best.....

Dear Dmarkwind,
I am glad you enjoyed your stay in Boulder. The Fourth of July is a fun time to be in the Boulder area.Your comment about the ice tray not freezing overnight is perplexing because we do not have have ice trays in the rooms. We have a ice machine in our lobby for your ice needs. We are an older motel but we work hard everyday to keep our property in great shape. My staff works very hard to make our guests stay enjoyable. We are a economy motel and give you a nice room for a fair price.
Thank you for taking time out of your day to comment about your stay.
Sincerely

“Smoky room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

No amenities whatsoever-- forgot a toothbrush and asked if they had anything and they replied that they sometimes do.

Asked for a non-smoking room and came back to find it reeking from smoke. Exhausted I had to move all of my stuff late at night to a room that didn't stink.

I would never stay here again and I have learned my lesson--never let the penny-pinching secretary book my hotel. This is the place you end up at.

Dear Debra M,
I am sorry that your stay was not what you expected. Americas Best Value Inns brand is an economy chain. We offer limited services and amenities. We always have personal items available at a nominal fee at the front desk. Because we are an economy motel, we are able to offer much lower rates, when compared to other lodging properties in Boulder. We offer value with limited flash. We put free shampoo in our rooms and always have hot coffee and tea available. To be honest if you need full amenities and 4 star accommodations, we are not that type of motel. If you want value for your dollar, a clean room, a nice continental breakfast and personal service from a great staff then we are the place to stay in Boulder.
Thank you for taking the time to comment about your stay.
Sincerely

“Average for the Motel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

I stayed here one night last July.
They promise that there is free WiFi, but have to change room twice before I get at least signal.
Staff was very helpful.

Ended in to non-smoking room, but it smells like a smokers room?? :(

Dear Macharza,
Thank you for your comment. Since your stay, we have upgraded our WiFi system and added more access points. 95% of motel is non smoking, however we do have guests that rent non smoking rooms then step outside their rooms and smoke. Our property is an outside entrance motel and our air conditioners can possibly pull in smoke from the outside if someone is standing near them smoking. If this was the case, I apologize that you were uncomfortable with the smoke smell in your room.
Sincerely,
Kevin Ripley

“Just Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

Stayed at this motel for a one night on my way to Denver, its a typical motel nothing special about it, the room was large with a TV, it was clean with no funny smells. The bed was comfortable enough & the bathroom was also clean. There was some noise from the street which you can hear while in the room, but I didn't find any trouble sleeping.
Can't really comment on the location as I arrived late at night & took off early in the morning so actually didn't get to see boulder itself!!!

“One stay a 5, the other stay a 3”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

First, the +s for both stays (different rooms)....great location (U of Colorado is a 5 minute walk), good parking, large room, bathtub/shower combo nice, shampoo supplied, good room lighting, clock radio/CD player, LOTS of TV stations, best Continental breakfast I've seen, good rate ($51 + tax). The main negative was the TV was only decent size. Lastly, the positive and the negative on the same item. The mattress in the first room was great...firm as it should be. The mattress in the room for my second stay a few days later was slumping towards the middle which is a sign of an old, worn out mattress. I brought that up to the front desk clerk who was nice BTW, and he said "all the mattresses are new." All I can figure out is they must have skipped that room (#225) because that one there did not feel like a new mattress. Except for this, I would have given the property 5*, but can't do that with the mattress being great one stay and not very good the next.

Room Tip: I believe the good mattress room was #219. AVOID room #225!

Dear TFBerry,
I am sorry the mattress was uncomfortable. We discovered our contractor missed room 225 when he was changing mattresses. This was corrected and a new mattress is now in place. Thank you for taking the time to comment about your stays with us in Boulder. We look forward to serving you again.
