“Top Tips for Staying at this Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

people found this review helpful

This is the second time I've stayed here (last time was Winter 2011). I'm happy to report that overall, this is still a great hotel, with some slight differences.

1) Location: perfect. You can walk to restaurants, a full-service spa, and a Whole Foods-like full grocery store called the Sunflower. (also, this store has an aisle of sundries: makeup, razors, deodorant, shampoo, etc...) You can also walk downtown if you're a walker/exerciser. It's about 10-12 blocks or so.

2) Amenities: great. They have free bottled water in the lobby, so stock up so you don't spend $3.50 on water in the room. Also, there 's an ice machine on each floor. They have a small sundries shop at the reception desk, if needed. Boarding pass printing: they have a small self-serve kiosk. (Although, I flew six times this month, and my electronic boarding pass worked just fine through my iPhone and husband used his Android).

There's a small Starbucks coffee bar onsite, with some juice and flavored water options. They have a small lobby bar--wine, beer and liquor. They also have a nice little restaurant onsite, but I didn't use it. (However, I ordered room service and it was there in 15 minutes and very top notch)

The pool area is very clean, very basic. I used the hot tub-- very nice. I would have liked to use the pool, and while it is heated, it's just a tad chilly for this Texan in Colorado!

Spa: they advertise they have one, and there is one in the same building, BUT, it's actually slightly separate from the hotel. I didn't use it , but it looked nicer than a Massage Envy and a couple steps down from a Four Seasons. It doesn't have a way of staying inside the hotel and sneaking to the spa in your robe. You have to walk through the lobby of the hotel, out the front door and across the front parking lot to get there. It's also a good idea to make a reservation in advance as they didn't appear too busy, so may not be fully staffed for the pop-in. But, they do say they are a full service salon. Just check before you go, even if just a day in advance.

Parking is easy: you have an outdoor lot where you park and get settled in, then move it to their garage where you can take the elevator directly to your floor.

There are lots of neat restaurants right in the strip mall area where the hotel is located: IHOP, Original Pancake House, and others. Easily walkable.

View: pretty view of mountains from back of hotel.

Dogs: not sure they're allowed here, but if so there's a doggie wash place in that same strip mall that has treats and a cute doggie spa area.

Room tips: great Bath & Body amenities. If you are not getting up early, request a high, quiet floor facing the back of the hotel so you can see the mountains from your bed. NOTE: if you're there during the week, don't stay on the third floor, It's the meeting room floor so they start setting up early for 8:00 am meetings. So lots of noise and talking very early in the morning. See if there are other floors like that, too. I'm typically an early bird, but not a morning person, so it was slightly annoying.

ATM: onsite

Free newspapers and magazines every day by elevator on floor and in lobby.

Staff: rivaled a Four Seasons. They were all kind, gave me a free razor from sundries shop, gave great tips, directions, and ideas for dinner. They even remembered my name.

They have a simple express checkout.

Beds are VERY comfortable. Not too hard or soft. I slept very well.

Working in room: very nice size work desk and plugs. I was there for fun, so would have liked more outlets by the bed.

In-room safe, iron and ironing board. No fridge.

TV: great channel selection, including HBO.

Shower/bath: combo together. Adequate but low-flow showers which I hate, but I know everyone is trying to be environmentallly friendly.

The room I was in was slightly more worn than last time, but very clean. They'll probably start remodeling in the next couple of years.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor with no meeting rooms if you're there during the week.

“Highly Recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Got to hotel early, but they had a room ready for us. Great room with mountain view. Very nice & convenient location; across the street from 29th Street Mall, close to CU, Boulder, Pearl Street, etc. Accommodating & extremely helpful/friendly staff. Will definitely stay here when I return to Boulder.

“Stayed for a college visit with our son.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The Boulder Marriott was a nice place and fairly good location to the University. You will need a car to get to both Pearl Street for the fun night life and to the University for the college tours. We did not utilize the breakfast except they had a Starbucks in the lobby and it was adequate. There is a Sunflower Market and a breakfast pancake place within walking distance. You need to pay for overnight parking which is $9.00 per day. The beds where comfortable and was quiet while we stayed there. (It was on a Sunday night.) If my son decides to go to college here, this will be where we come back to stay on weekend visits.

“Definitely Recommend the Boulder Marriott”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

This is a solid Marriott that feels more like a small local hotel. Staff call you by name and really make you feel welcome. Rooms are clean and well kept. Boulder is the perfect place to spend Christmas (especially when escaping Texas)- Marriott is also a great place to stay when skiing Eldora. Hotel is also very convenient (i.e. walking distance) to all Boulder has to offer (restaurants and shopping)- Definitely recommend.
