“website is completely deceptive”

The Rockin 50s room sounded and looked inviting on the website. The description of the "lush gardens" and "sparkling pool" sounded nice especially in summer. The "nearby" attractions--shopping outlets, parks, a zoo and Palm Spring Tram etc. offered plenty to do. I signed up for a two-day stay in mid-July at the "reduced" summer rate of $300 + tax. Ok, still kinda steep but it sounded so special. We arrived and it was 110 degrees. Went to the room. It was decorated 50s style, but mostly clever paint job on an otherwise ordinary room--minus the hot tub. Hot tub was big--in fact it took up most of the floorspace. Bathroom was just like any motel bathroom. At this point we weren't sure it was worth the premium price, but we decided to check out the pool and gardens. The entire pool and spa (smaller than most Motel 6 ones) was filled with green algae-laden water--basically like pond scum. Of course there was a closed sign on the gate. The lush gardens next to it were about the size of someone's backyard--complete with junk piled up, almost no grass, and dead plants. That was it. We marched right back down to the office to cancel after being there less than 10 minutes. A govt. truck had just pulled up and when the man entered the office where we were getting our money back, he told the office worker that he was from the sanitation department about the pool. Ok, last, but not least, the attractions are quite a distance away--1/2 hr to 45 min. drive. There is literally nothing to do locally--even find a place to eat. (We found a fast food place, but the sink in the men's room and the toilet in the ladies' room were not working.)
FYI: We ended up driving to Desert Hot Springs where we got a nice room with 7 different hot springs pools, a great restaurant, and a clean comfortable place much closer to the "attractions."--oh and for less than 2/3 the cost.

“Not an Oasis”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2008

It is nothing similar to an Oasis. A cold, sad place. Rooms looked great on their pictures, but it was nothing like that. We could not turn on the heat enough, it was so cold in there. Very sad place...

  • Liked — The spa that wasn't even that great...
  • Disliked — No heat, too cold!

“Noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2008

This place is a bit dated. I was a little concerned that there was no peephole in the door for security. We had a non-smoking room, yet there was a huge ashtray just outside our door, inviting smokers to stand right there and smoke, which they did.
It must be known as a party hotel since there was a huge party next door which didn't end until I finally called the front desk. Even then, no one came to the room itself; just a phone call was made. I don't know what would have been done if the party had continued. By then, I had a huge headache which lasted into the next day. At least the noise stopped, though. When we checked out the next morning, nothing was said or asked about the incident. I don't think they much cared, which is probably why people feel free to party there in the first place.
This would be an adequate place if you don't have people there to party next door. The pool area was nice. The room was a good size. There was plenty of parking. The grounds are decorated with flowers. From my research, all the motels in the area are pretty much the same and very low class, so don't expect a lot--and wear your slippers since we found stuff on the floor that hadn't been vacuumed up.

“If only Best Western had been open”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2007

Room was clean enough but drab as another traveler mentioned. Had to have police called out to stop the local teens from partying in the movie theater parking lot next door. Street noise was also bad as this motel is on main drag of town. Staff were okay but not very friendly. Would not stay here again since Best Western will be open soon.
