The inn keeper is one of the rudest people we have ever met. An error was made by either the inn keeper or the reservation center and we were charged $80 more per night than the quoted price. We had reservations for Wednesday and Thursday evenings but upon arrival we were told our reservation was for Thursday and Friday. When we wanted to cancel the reservation and go elsewhere, the extremely nasty inn keeper told us she was still going to charge us the full price for the room whether we stayed there or not. Very angry, rude and argumentative woman - she obviously does not care about her guests and/or if they ever return. Would not recommend for anyone!

My husband and I were very excited for our trip to Napa this weekend and had booked a room at the Bordeax House. It was the first time we were going to be staying in Yountville and I was looking forward to it. Unfortunately, we had a death in the family early this morning and have had to cancel our entire trip. Obviously, this is not something we planned for and are inside the Bordeaux House's cancelation policy. All other reservations that we had booked for the weekend were accomodating and due to the nature of our cancelation offered full refunds or a credit to use in the future. Not the Bordeaux House. My husband called Jean and noted that she was rude (my husband used another word for it) and unaccomodating. My parents are heading to the Valley in a few months and we were planning on giving them the credit and then they would potentially stay additional nights giving this small business additional revenue, but my husband was told that "We don't have a policy for anything other than you have outlined in your confirmation and we will be charging your credit card."....end of story. I agree with the other comments here about Jean's demeanor. Maybe I'm just naive, but couldn't you charge us and give us a voucher and create return guests out of us?

Just to confirm what other reviewers have said, Jean will ruin any good to come of this bed and breakfast. She is better off hiring someone else to handle the hospitality side of things. The Gerwurtz room was quaint (and you can interupt that as you normally would) but I did see the other king-size bed rooms and they were quite a bit better. The Gerwurtz did have a one-person jucuzzi tub (which was one of the perks) but it hadn't been used in awhile so black crud shot out of the jets. We knew other guests staying in the main building and they said they could hear every thing in the room above them. One of the most disappointing parts was that Jean decided to have the woodwork replaced the room of our traveling companions during their stay so when we returned to change for dinner, all of their personal items, the bed, the wardrobe had been moved to the center of the room without Jean giving them any warning. Certainly any room updates could have waited until after we left or they at least could have arranged for a time we were all going to be gone for the majority of the day. All in all, I was extremely disappointed with my stay. Jean's staff was very friendly and their breakfasts were delicious. Unforutnately, Jean knows that if she posts vacancy on the front lawn, she would immediately get her rooms filled. Don't let her ruin your trip though!

We stayed in the Chablis room which was a nice size and also the bathroom was a nice size and the jetted tub worked well. The room could use a paint job and the bed was rather hard. The location is great for walking to restaurants. Jean we both found to be very unfriendly and she offered no suggestions for the area. For the price we would expect to have a warmer welcome and some hospitality. We can stay in NY if we want to be treated rudely!!
