We are from Missouri and traveled out to California for the first time. We found the most charming Inn of our entire trip just south of the Redwoods in a quaint little town of Willits. We loved Baechtel Creek because of their tucked back position off the Hwy, their great staff and the most comfortable beds we slept in from Missouri to California.

We also thought the breakfast was amazing --- everything was fresh and the eggs were homecooked. Didn't find that anywhere else along the way.

We used their lovely pool and hot tub area - one side borders the creek - so awesome to sit outside and feel so peaceful and comfortable.

Willits is adorable - small town with some cute little shops, an amazing restaurant - Purple Thistle - and very friendly people.

All in all we would definitely return and tell all our friends about this place and this town!

The good thing is it is really the last town before you head up into the Redwoods - which are awesome and worth visiting!

Upscale hotel options become increasingly scarce on U.S. 101 north of Ukiah. The lovely Benbow Inn was very expensive on Labor Day weekend, so we aimed for Willits enroute to an event in Oregon. Probably should have kept going. Willits, hit hard by changing economics, is not exactly a resort destination for most travelers. But despite its somewhat inexplicable #3 TripAdvisor ranking, Baechtel offers by far the most elegant accommodations in the area, hence its higher price relative other local options. True, Baechtel is situated practically within arm's reach of the McDonald's Drive-Through lane. But the property is beautifully decorated and clean and visually it outshines nearly everything else in town. There is a pool. There is a hot/cold breakfast served in the lobby. Hard times have caused a certain number of local businesses to close, but the town has an abundance of "smoke shops." Our appetite was iffy, but we found cider on tap at the Shanachie Pub near the Rexall. Then back to our oasis before hitting the road before breakfast the next morning.

What a surprise...a cheap motel that was absolutely terrific. Great service, nice pool, jacuzzi, clean and spacious room and good breakfast.

We were greeted by friendly staff as we registered. Within about 15 minutes of checking into our room, staff called to ensure all was OK. Staff offered options for finding dinner dining. Great continental breakfast. During checkout, staff were friendly and accommodating. Booked another stay when I'll be returning to town.
