I come to the Imperial Valley once a year for a golf tournamet in early January, and always stay at the Super 8 Motel. Their rooms are always clean, and their staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast seems to get better every year. I always call ahead and speak with the manager Abraham to confirm our stay, he goes out of his way to have bagels especially for us Thank you guys for a great stay, again

I work in the Imperial Valley and was very disappointed at my stay here. I based my decision to stay here based on the previous messages. My wireless did not work in most parts of this motel and there are not may places to eat around this small town. The restaurant down the street was only open 5 - 10 pm but was very good. The Front Desk was not very attentive or understanding. The breakfast area is very small. I left the next day and drove down towards to El Centro but stopped by to check out a place in Brawley called the Brawley Inn. They were very friendly, attentive and had DSL and wireless internet that worked. Their breakfast area was 3 time the size of Super 8 and everything was fresh. They had a deli and restaurant on the property. I never plan on returning to the Super 8 at all.

This is a really, really nice motel. Our room was huge, very clean, and featured a ceiling fan. The free wireless Internet access had great signal strength. The breakfast buffet was well beyond what we had expected: packaged breakfast sandwiches, toaster waffles, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, apples.

It was very quiet the Monday night we stayed. They seem to get a lot of walk-in business from truckers and have plenty of easy, free parking.

The only catch was our first interaction with the innkeeper. We had a change of plans and called to cancel. Most Super 8's require cancellation by 4pm day of arrival. This location requires notification by 4pm day before arrival. We missed that deadline by four hours. Abraham is very strict about enforcing this policy. That, in itself, is not what upset me. It seemed he was trying to give me a run-around, passing me to two other phone numbers rather than acknowledging that, in the end, those agents were going to call him anyway, and he was not going to waive the fee for them, either.

In the end, our plans changed back again and we did stay. He offered us reasonable compensation for the inconvenience we had experienced in our first interaction, without any prompting. I guess even the best in hospitality have off days.

Given all of that, I would not at all hesitate to stay again. Just make sure you're aware of the strict enforcement of a 24 hour cancellation policy and their policy of releasing reservations (with a no show charge) at midnight unless you call to advise them of a later arrival.

I was a refugee from the San Diego county fires in 2003 and found the entire staff and crew to be outstanding in extending "five star" hospitality during our tough times. Will always stay at the Super 8 Motel when I'm in the area.
