The company contracting my services booked me into the tower and was quite upset when they learned my colleagues and I had been placed in the older motel section. I wondered why - looked the same from the outside.
When I walked in the room there was a disturbing heavy perfumed scent (former guest? cleaning solution?) but the room looked nice enough and the bed seemed comfortable. It didn't take long to figure out the problems.
The connecting door to the neighboring room let in every sound - even people talking in soft voices. Since it was a family next door with small children and a dog....the noise was really a problem. And I'm guessing the phone call I received at 10pm when they were trying to get the kids to sleep was problem for them. Noise flowed in through the sliding glass door to the pool area as well.
Shower had good pressure - but the shower curtain was too short for the curved rod and wouldn't stay in the tub. Wouldn't be so much of a problem, but the tile on the shower floor was like ice when it got wet - a real safety hazard for anyone with unsure footing. The ceiling light fixture in the bathroom had a dozen or so dead bugs in the cover - just a bit icky.
The room had 3 packs of decaf coffee, but no regular. The breakfast was abundant, but the quality of the eggs and the sausage was poor.
When I inquired about the shuttle to the airport, I was told that it cost $40...and they recommended a cab instead. Upon checking back, the desk clerk noted that as I was a corporate company guest, there was no charge for the shuttle.
The redeeming factor for me was what others have mentioned - the truly friendly and helpful attitude of the staff. I'll give the property another chance...but never in the motel section again.
