“Convenient and Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We stayed here over New Years weekend, expecting some noise from those attending the Rose Bowl festivities and generally crowded conditions. There were neither. The breakfast room was a bit hectic during the peak times, but there was sufficient room when we needed it. The beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and the staff was quite helpful. One desk clerk in particular made it his mission to help as much as he could (and we observed him doing this with everyone, not just us) during the most hectic part of the evening before the Rose Bowl game. And, we overheard them screening potential guests to make sure they understood the rooms weren't going to be for parties. If only hotels like this were at every stop we wanted to make.

Room Tip: North side rooms are noticeably quieter.

“Best Western Plus?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

We really couldn't find the "Plus" on this Best Western. Actually we found it to be rather run-down, or to be nice, very dated and not so clean. The one thing that bothered us the most was the dirty, dirty curtains. The black-out curtain was so dirty that we didn't want to touch it. The carpet was old and needed to be cleaned. The furniture, with exception of the desk and desk chair, were old, including the bulky 27" TV. The bathroom also needs a makeover.

Breakfast was standard with waffles, etc. The staff on the reception desk were friendly. We didn't use any other facility in this BW so I can't comment on anything else.

There might be a security problem because our downstairs window had sign of a break-in and the lock was replaced. We also noticed sign of a break-in on the door of the back entrance. Actually during out stay the lock on the door was missing.

“MANAGER WILL NOT CALL 911! DO NOT STAY HERE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Was witness of a crime (battery) on the hotel premises. I yelled for the General Manager of the property to call 911, and he refused. After police left, and I had returned to the hotel several hours later, I got a phone call on the room phone from the manger, swearing and yelling at the top of his lungs "YOU BRING BAD BUSINESS TO MY HOTEL" "I"M CALLING THE POLICE" I tried to talk, and said "SIR" but he cut me off and said something similar to "DON'T Fing sir me", so I calmly told him I needed ten mins to pack my bags and leave, and he said "FINE YOU HAVE TEN MINUTE." I came down in 5 mins, and he had apparently already called the West Covina Police on me and my friend, even though we were totally respectful and followed his directions. I calmly began audio recording him (I told him I was doing it before I did it) and I asked him calmly we had did not call 911. He told me "I DON'T HAVE TO TELL YOU ANYTHING" and I calmly stated, "No, Sir, you do not." And we checked out and left the hotel. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO WEST COVINA or go to this hotel and deal with this manager again. Period.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!!!!

“Great beds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

OK, a Best Western Hotel is not going to usually attract rave reviews. But there's two things I remember well about this Hotel. First, the room was soundproof, even though the freeway is close. Second, this hotel had -without doubt- the most comfortable king size bed I have slept on. That, to my mind, is worth heaps! That's why I am writing this review. Congratulations to the Hotel mattress purchaser!

“Travel Agent Review”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I was in town for a relatives wedding with my better half. Pool and spa -- average but nice that they had it. Hotel is very outdated. Bed is amazingly comfortable, however. Some kindof weird salmonish pink on the walls and doors. They still have cigarette box in front of the elevator. Employees were helpful but not overly cheerful ( I guess I woudltn be either for 8 dollars an hour). I stayed at a BW in San CLemente which had a huge shower and jet stream tub -- it disapointed me that this one only had an old, small tub. Cleanliness : 3.
Bottom line, I feel this place is good for one night stays, two nights at the maximum. California has beautiful ambiance and towns, Covina is not one of them.

Room Tip: off road room
