“Best Hotel in the Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I stayed ten days in the Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek after having visited and compared the from my point of view best hotels in the area. – And I can recommend this hotel definitely.

It’s a nice hotel with modern and very clean rooms. Everything is in an excellent condition. The service is very friendly. The food, especially the breakfast, is healthy and tasty.

Part of the hotel is a spacious fitness club including three pools.

The hotel is situated about five minutes walk away from the BART (train to e.g. San Francisco) and near to the next highway exit. Nevertheless it’s quite.

The pricing is not the lowest, but acceptable. Internet access and mandatory valet parking cost extra. If you stay longer, ask for the long stay rates.

“Disappointed...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I have stayed at this properties multiple times, and never had a problem there, but I am very disappointed this past visit because I found a cockroach in the hotel room. This totally freaked me out and even though I have another reservation pending in that hotel for December, I am not sure I would keep it because it's too soon... I am really hoping this is just an isolated incident because I do really like this hotel.

On the plus side, the front desk person was very professional and she moved me to another room right away upon hearing the finding, but it still made me uncomfortable so I didn't sleep very well. She also sent two people up to my room to inspect the critter (I smashed it with my gym shoes) and threw it into the trash by then but I did take a picture. Ugh!

“Wished I could have stayed longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I stayed at the Renaissance in late August and I wished I could stay longer. The rooms were very clean. It's very near the BART station. But the absolute best thing about it is its gym and pool. The equipment at the gym is terrific. I tried out all sorts of new exercises and spent a long time swimming laps outside. Unfortunately, my stay was short but I'm looking forward to going back.

“NICE HOTEL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This hotel had everthing a family could ask for. Friendly employee's with a can do attitude. Spa was great for a massage, kid's loved the swimming facilities, and a short walk to BART station was easy to get to.

Room Tip: We had a room with a view of Mt Diablo, which was pretty.

“Super Service @ Fitness Club Oriented Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

June 2011. I had the opportunity to stay at the Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Crrek property when business required us to be in the area. The hotel near downtown Walnut Creek and within walking distance to B.A.R.T. In fact if you willing to give yourself the B.A.R.T. commute time, it is a lower cost alternative to staying in S.F.

Check-in was fast and friendly. My room was on a higher floor and was a quiet room too.

My room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was ultra comfortable and had Marriott’s Revive bedding. Both feather and foam pillows were available. Lighting in the room was very good with lamps on both sides of the bed, on the desk, and a floor lamp. The work desk was about standard and the retro office-style chair functional and comfortable. My The room had a sofa and an arm chair. Room was a bit small though.

The TV was had a lot of cable channels as well as a wide selection of pay-per-view movies. I looked at some previews and costs per movie seemed to be between $12 and $15. High-speed Internet service had a charge of $9.95 per day. I used the broadband connection on my phone instead.

The bathroom was clean. Lighting was good, the towels were plentiful, and the shower worked well – immediate hot water with plenty of pressure. Bath amenities include shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and mouthwash.

The cleaning crew did a great job during my job.

The hotel public areas were clean and well-kept, and were busy due to guests and folks conducting business in the property. There is a very complete and large sports and fitness facility and you can take classes there too.

There are not too many restaurants within walking distance to this property. But you can take the B.A.R.T. into downtown Oakland and S.F. for many eating establishments. The hotel property was excellent and has the best breakfast buffet of any property I have stayed in 2011.

I recommend this property if you have business in the local area and/or you're looking for lower cost alternative to staying in downtown Oakland and/or S.F. If you're willing to take B.A.R.T. in, then this could be the great choice. Service was top notch at this property.
