“Pick the Right Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I'll start out by saying that this was a "good" property for us, rather than a "very good" or "average". The amenities, as in the heated pool, whirlpool, gym, and breakfast buffet made it better than average, but there were some other qualities that made it less than very good.
Our first stay there was on the second floor, right above the front desk. We thought it would be busy with foot traffic using the stairs in front of our room, but noise was not a problem. The west side of the hotel is also further away from the oppressive din of the interstate. The room was large enough to accommodate us and our two medium-sized dog crates. Yes, Hilton Hotels are pet-friendly, which is awesome of those of us who don't want to leave our four-legged family members at home. The middle-aged gentleman at front desk was always friendly and helpful, providing us with printed directions to local businesses.

Our second stay there (a few days later) wasn't as good as the first. Our room was on the ground floor next to the pool, which put us closer to the drone of I5. The room looked older with stained carpeting and scratched furniture. Granted, it was a pet-friendly room, but I've stayed in dozens and never had carpeting look that dirty. The bathroom also wasn't as clean - I won't go into any details there. The young woman at front desk was not as friendly or helpful. When checking in, she seemed annoyed when I requested our previous room, I guess because it would take her 10 seconds to see if it was available. Later when I called to let her know that the coffeemaker in the room was broken, her response was lackadaisical, when it should've been something like, "I'll have housekeeping replace it now."
Our ground floor room also seemed to have thinner walls, as the TV next door kept us up until 2am. Maybe parts of the hotel have been renovated?

The pool was large and warmed to a perfect temperature, and there was a fresh supply of towels in the alcove - no trekking to a desk to ask for pool towels. Both beds were comfy and both rooms were a good size. Lots of outlets for devices. Excellent location if you're going to Magic Mountain or need a break from I5.

Room Tip: Look on the west side, away from I5. Ask to see the room first, to make sure it's clean.

“Comfortable and Spacious after a long day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I'll start with the good: We stayed in a king room, which had a desk with outlets at desk height and one in the desktop lamp, which was very convenient for running laptops and charging other devices simultaneously. The bed was very comfortable, the TV was large and the room also had a chair with ottoman so you weren't required to lay in bed to watch TV. Plenty of pillows as well, and the room temp was well regulated. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, far enough from the freeway so you don't get noise, close enough so you don't get lost trying to find the hotel. Also, great access to Magic Mountain. We didn't go to the theme park, but it looked like it would have been an easy walk. (Of course, I say that from being inside a car, so I could be WAY off.) Easy access to a lot of restaurants.

Now for the picky stuff: The bathroom didn't have a fan, or at least not one we could find to turn on, so showers meant waiting 10-15 minutes before anyone else could use bathroom without being in a sauna. The door for the freezer in the mini-fridge was missing, so any ice packs we tried to re-freeze wouldn't freeze. This one isn't really the fault of the hotel, but perhaps hotel designers can think in the future to stagger bed placement...or maybe the guy next door was a colossal snorer. In any case, the person in the room next to us was snoring so loudly it actually sounded like a chainsaw was next door. Finally, the bathroom had definitely been cleaned, but due to maybe the age of the room, or hard use, it looked a little...well, worn out. As such, it was hard to feel like you were in a completely clean bathroom, even though the surfaces looked fine.

I gave this hotel a Very Good rating because A) the hotel isn't responsible for snoring guests, B) bed was comfortable and room was spacious, C) room had obviously been cleaned even if the decor didn't do justice to the housekeeping staff's efforts, and D) great location! If there is a fan in the bathroom they really should label the on/off switch, or make sure it's working.

“A great Discovery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Our overnight stay here was wonderful. I really liked the high ceiling in our room and the shower was a welcome treat after a long drive. We enjoyed our breakfast and the recognition by the front desk staff that it was my birthday. I enjoy being a Hilton customer. Thank you

“Magic Mountain Convenience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

Located just outside the Magic Mountain entertainment complex, you couldn't be any closer to the htheme park. The hotel appears to be 2 or 3 years old but most likely a lot o9lder than that. It is in excellent conditio0n and had comfortable rools and very good beds. The hotel provides a shuttle to Magic Mountain for guests and its location is also convenient for a stop over if you are traveling up or down the state on Interstate 5. There are numerous shopping and restaurant opportunities within 3 or 4 miles of the hotel. They provide a breakfast however, you need to add another $10.00 to your nightly rate. I would definitely stay again in the future.

“A Motel on the freeway”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

So far from being a 3 star, barely a two... Threadbare sheets, stained faux granite in a tiny bathroom, overall vibe of being a one star hotel. la Quinta looks like the Ritz!

Room Tip: Don't bother

Dear cia B,

Thank you for staying with us and your comments on our hotel. I am sorry that we did not meet your standards. The granite top you noticed was stained indeed. However, the majority of the bathrooms are not stained. There are solid plans to replace the stained ones during the upcoming renovations early next year.

I would take pleasure in welcoming you back after renovation is completed next year so that you could experience the hotel as it was meant to be. Please contact me directly so that I may personally take care of your next stay.

I take this opportunity to share the sentiments of another guest's recent review (12/15) as follows:

I have stayed here on multiple occasions and this place doesn't disappoint.

Customer service is always up to par considering what I've had to deal with in the past. They also have tons of parking - always found one close to my room entrance.

They also offer am breakfast buffet or place to order for whatever may be on your tastebuds.

Overall great place to stay!!!
