Long story but we were in Truckee at 10:30 at night and in need for a place to stay overnight. Went to the Larkspur Hotel and asked them what they could do. They refused to give us any "deal" even though, as I pointed out to them it was 10:30, I had 2 small children in tehe car and just needed a place to sleep. I also pointed out, nicely, that there was little chance of them selling out that night.

No go. They were just not interested in even talking to me (3 of them and they all were busy on their computers; really, at 10:30pm?). I thought that was a wee bit rude (I guess the thought of giving anyone a break was below them; even though they have a 50% off the 2nd night coupon on TripAdvisor). OK. Point taken. They don't need my business (recommend Hampton Inn instead).

This hotel was clean, friendly and nice. The breakfast staff were friendly, the food was good, and the rooms were comfy.

Although the price was higher than we paid for other hotels on our trip, this one was by far the best. The rooms were spacious, everything was fresh and new, and the feeling was woodsy and sports-oriented. We were very comfortable here. We had dinner at the burrito bar (I forget the name) and it was very tasty; the breakfast buffet was also fine, although not outstanding. The staff were very helpful and polite. I would definitely be happy to stay here again.

I've worked in hotels for 23 years and I am picky about where I stay and all I have to say is, "I love this hotel!"

I have stayed at or toured almost all of the hotels in Truckee over the years and I have to say this hotel is my absolute favorite! Most recently we stayed at the Larkspur Truckee in both July and September, both stays were excellent!

The hotel has been updated recently and is just awesome! The rooms are large, all the rooms have refrigerators, the beds are super comfy, the linens the hotel uses are very high quality, the hotel is super clean, the hotel staff is attentive and engaging, there is a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning that is awesome and always well stocked, the rates are competetive, it's easy to find, the hotel is close to old town Truckee and Northstar at Tahoe! The list goes on!

I highly recommend not waiting until the last minute to book your reservations if you are planning a ski trip. This hotel is very popular with the people that have been coming to Truckee for years and will completely book up if you wait too long!
