We spent a night here this week. The room was very large with a comfortable bed. The hotel does have an elevator, although we did stay on the first floor. There was coffee and cookies in the lobby all the time and there was a continental breakfast that had plenty to eat. There was some remodeling being done, but it did not distract from our stay. There also was a pool, but we did not use it.

The room was spacious and beautiful. Bed was medium to firm and easy on my bad back. 32" flat panel TV with HD channels. The room has a lot of storage space and included a microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast had a large variety of choices including bacon and scrambled eggs.

The staff was very friendly and understanding. My car had broken down coming up Donner pass and my funds were limited as a result. I was given a good discount given the higher rates charged during tourist season for which I am very grateful for. Thanks!

One minor complaint was their wifi system was not playing nicely with my laptop and I was unable to connect to the net. I gave up after 2 hours of trying everything to get on. I could get logged into the router ok but nothing beyond that. Never had this issue before at a WiFi access point. I was disappointed as given my car situation, I needed internet access badly. They do have 2 public terminals in the lobby but there was no privacy and I felt uncomfortable accessing personal financial information in the open like that.

We were very satisfied with our room on the top floor,(3rd in UK, but 2nd in USA) which was smartly and comfortably furnished and very quiet. The outdoor pool was a reasonable size and the inclusive breakfast more than adequate.
Although the freeway can be seen from the hotel, it cannot be heard at all. Donner Pass road is nearby which is ideal for nature walks and there are several paths from there which allow access to the Truckee river. A 5 minute drive takes you into the small, interesting town of Truckee with many shopping and dining possibilities.

My friends and I stayed at Truckee Donners Lodge and were very happy! The room was updated, clean and relaxing. The Donners park was within walking distance -even for an "older" person. There was a small resturant also within walking distance. Town was a short distance away.
