“Very good value with some pleasant surprises”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2011

I stayed here for more than a week. The rates are reasonable, considering that one is very near and well connected to major business, shopping centers and attractions of West Los Angeles, and to all the beach-cities. (There is a pier at Redondo Beach which is five minutes away by car. It is worth a visit, both by day and night.)
Sepulveda Boulevard, on which the hotel is located, remains busy but the rooms have good insulation. There is almost no noise from the street.
The bed and couch, etc. are more comfortable than expected in this price-range. The best surprise is the excellent high-speed wireless Internet. I've stayed at pricier hotels and not had such good Internet connection.
The staff is courteous and helpful, and accessible 24 hours.
And for those visiting from less auto-centric towns and cities and who want to exercise on foot, the Charles Wilson Park on Crenshaw Boulevard (the "cross-street") is a five-minute walk away. I went there often. It is safe and clean.

Room Tip: rooms at the far end have the better view

“Would highly recommend this hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2011

I have now stayed at this hotel twice. Once was a year or so ago for a short vacation and then this last time when unfortunately a family member died and I needed to make arrangements at the last minute. The lady who took my call when I made the reservation was nothing short of courteous and helpful. My stay was for 6 days and she gave me a slightly discounted rate which helped a lot. When my husband and I arrived to check in, we were met with another employee (the lady who I had made the reservations with told me she would not be in that day but was looking forward to meeting me the day after, I don't think I ever did meet her but I appreciate how cordial she was) we were given a coupon to the breakfast they hold in the lobby which we unfortunately were unable to use (we had a lot of things to do in preparation for the funeral so our time was limited). Not 5 minutes after we entered our room the phone rang and it was the front desk asking if the room was to our expectations! How nice is that? The room was clean and spacious and for the most part quiet except for the upstairs neighbors which you can't help but hear if someone is walking above you. It wasn't horrible though and we got a good nights' sleep our whole stay. The housekeeping staff was very nice. A few days we didn't leave our room until well after 2pm and everytime we came back that night our room was made up. It's nice to stay at a hotel that will do that. They also offer use of a washer and dryer from the hours of 9am to 9pm. That is a plus too.
The only things I can think of that were even slightly negative was, one of our next door neighbors I am guessing was a weekly renter there. He had a company truck (tow truck) and when my husband and I parked in the spot RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR ROOM, not his, he made it a point to pull his truck right up against the drivers' side door of our rental car so we had to crawl in through the passenger side to actually move the car. Then he stood in the doorway of his room with a smirk as if to say he got one over on us. Whatever.. maybe the parking spaces can be numbered or assigned so that can be contested next time if a jerk like that does that again. I had other things to deal with so I wasn't in the mood to play his game. Also, the last night we were there our sheets smelled heavily of cigarettes. We had a non smoking room so it was pretty apparant when we turned our bed down to sleep. Aside from those two menial things I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again the next time I end up in Torrance.

“Clean and safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2011

I just needed a place to stay when starting a new job. The Travelodge in Torrance was recommended by a co-worker as being clean and very near the office. I didn't expect more than that. I was much happier here than the first motel I stayed at on Pacific Coast Highway. There were several restaurants within a block, a Starbucks across the street.

Amenities: There is a small pool but I didn't use it since it was windy and chilly (it looks much bigger on the website, and it is in the parking lot facing the street.) There is a small laundry room, which was convenient. Continental breakfast was danish, bagels, juice, and coffee--I went to Starbucks in the mornings instead.

Service: Service was fine--not that I was expecting a lot. Check-in and check-out were smooth and fast. The wind blew off the Do Not Disturb sign one day--they fixed the bed and replaced the towels while leaving the rest of my stuff undisturbed, which was nice but disconcerting.

“the room had stains all over the carpet and the maids”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2011

did minimum cleaning and said they had to do so many an hour. Then I was surprised to discover, after returning to Australia, a charge on my credit card which I did not authorize for damage to 2 kitchen chairs which I had no way to dispute. It is very disturbing that a hotel can accuse someone of damage, especially when maids clean everyday and would have reported damage during by 2 week stay. So what they are saying is on the last day, all of a suddent the damage occured!!!!. My 5 year old granddaughter has never damaged anything.

“A great value -- we visit several times a year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2011

The Travelodge Torrance is comfortable and well maintained and the staff is eager to please. The location is ideal for people visiting the South Bay and wanting a good price more than luxury. The beds are comfortable and fresh towels were provided each day of our stay.
