“Perfect place to stay on a budget”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

My husband and I stayed here recently for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by what a great hotel this was! We were a little apprehensive at first that because of the lower price we paid for our room that we were going to be staying at a dive. When we first pulled up to check-in, the lady behind the counter was very quick to check us in and give us recommendations and directions to places and things that we wanted to go to nearby. Our room was a pretty standard hotel room but we had no complaints. There was always hot water in the shower, our room was ALWAYS nice and toasty after a cold day outside in Tahoe, and we had a beautiful view of Lake Tahoe from our balcony. And not just a partial view, but a gorgeous view of the lake! That was a nice surprise. We even used the hot tub at night which was actually hot AND clean! The breakfast offered in the morning satisfied both my husband and I.
I would absolutely recommend this place to a friend. We had no complaints and you couldn't get a better location or price for staying in the Lake Tahoe area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the lake!

“Motel with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We stayed there as a family of 4 on advice of Eurotripadviser.com. Not only did we have a very friendly welcome but the rooms were nicely kept and we had a wonderful view on the lake; the property also has swimming pool and spa as well as bike rental, a great restaurant just nearby and finally kayak renting just on the other side of the road. In one word: this motel has everything you need to have a perfect stay!

“Wonderful budget accomodations!”

Lake Tahoe doesn't have a lot of nice, moderately priced hotels, so I feel very lucky to have found Firelite. I'd read the tripadvisor reviews, and I have to say, the hotel met or exceeded all my expectations. Yes, the rooms are basic - polyester bedspreads, basic furnishings. But, they have large flatscreen TVs, and while the towels were not the fluffiest I've ever used, they were plentiful. We stayed in room 25, top floor with a balcony, and had gorgeous lake views. The hot tub was also nice - clean, well-maintained, and luckily not crowded. As others have commented, the free continental breakfest is a real bonus. Fresh belgian waffles, fruit salad (seemed to be a mix of canned and fresh), hard boiled eggs, cereal, toast, and an array of muffins. Check-in and check-out were easy, and we had no complaints about the customer service. I will definitely return to the Firelite, and I recommend it to all.

“Firelite Lodge is a wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

My husband and I recently spent 5 days at the Firelite Lodge and could not have been happier with our choice. Our room had a pretty view of Lake Tahoe from the balcony, and there were chairs and a little table on the balcony where we could relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our accommodations were very comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean and in good repair. Each morning, we took advantage of a nice expanded continental breakfast, and also enjoyed visiting with the owner of the hotel -- an extremely kind and helpful young lady. We preferred this area of Lake Tahoe, the northern shore, it's still convenient to many things but not lots of crowds or traffic. There's a lovely beach and picnic area right across the street from the motel. The room rate was also a very good bargain -- $82/night for 3 of the nights we were there, and $102/night for the other two nights. When we travel to Lake Tahoe again, we plan to stay at the Firelite Lodge again, for sure!

Room Tip: Request a room with balcony and view of lake.

“Simple. Basic. Good. We'll be back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

We found Firelite just as most other reviewers said -- very clean, the best price I found when looking for the last weekend of August, and perfectly suited for what we wanted. It doesn't have much personality if that is important to you, but in every other way it is just what we hoped — close (or close enough) to great hiking (We did Five Lakes and Rubicon Trail). 2nd floor double queen room had a nice view of the lake — the room was pleasant and perfectly maintained — everything looks sort of newish - no rust or mold in the corners in the bathroom, lots of clean white towels, big flat screen TV, a little balcony. Bed was not that comfy and the walls indeed were thin but not horribly so. Hot tub was nice after hiking, and hotel is right across the street from Sandy Beach — tiny and not gorgeous but just dandy for a late afternoon swim, as it actually has a sandy bottom that goes far out, unlike many gravelly Tahoe beaches. Breakfast was simple and just fine -- sliced bread, cereal, make your own waffles, boiled eggs, like that... We'll definitely go back — for the price it was spot on!

Room Tip: Ask for room with view.
