We found Firelite just as most other reviewers said -- very clean, the best price I found when looking for the last weekend of August, and perfectly suited for what we wanted. It doesn't have much personality if that is important to you, but in every other way it is just what we hoped — close (or close enough) to great hiking (We did Five Lakes and Rubicon Trail). 2nd floor double queen room had a nice view of the lake — the room was pleasant and perfectly maintained — everything looks sort of newish - no rust or mold in the corners in the bathroom, lots of clean white towels, big flat screen TV, a little balcony. Bed was not that comfy and the walls indeed were thin but not horribly so. Hot tub was nice after hiking, and hotel is right across the street from Sandy Beach — tiny and not gorgeous but just dandy for a late afternoon swim, as it actually has a sandy bottom that goes far out, unlike many gravelly Tahoe beaches. Breakfast was simple and just fine -- sliced bread, cereal, make your own waffles, boiled eggs, like that... We'll definitely go back — for the price it was spot on!
