From the outside, this place looks like a standard motel. And for the most part it is. But it's the little things that made it great. My friend and I stayed for 3 nights.
First, we arrived late--after 11pm--so I called the front desk to let him know we were on our way and he told me over the phone that our room was open for us and we could check-in in the morning. Very convenient.
As other reviewers commented, breakfast was very good: waffles, cereal, bagels, toast, muffins, fruit, orange juice, milk, and coffee.
We had 2 queen beds in our room. The rooms are pretty standard and the walls are a bit thin but it wasn't very noisy at all. The beds were very comfortable, although I would recommend bringing your own pillow if you can. The pillows were rather flat. The bathrooms were good enough, again pretty standard. Free wi-fi was a HUGE plus. Another HUGE plus is that the room felt very clean (I'm picky about cleanliness). All the hairs were picked up from the bathroom and it appeared to be cleaned well. I also inspected my bed before I climbed in. Overall, the room felt clean and so I was comfortable.
The lodge is in a great location. There are not a lot of restaurants around it but it is directly across the street from the lake and an outfit where you can rent kayaks. The lodge itself also rents bicycles. It is also only 3/4 miles away from a Safeway, which we went to everyday, and approximately 20 minutes away from Tahoe City.
Overall, I would recommend the Firelite Lodge and I would definitely return.
