Lake of the Sky is an amazingly good value. Hostess Stacey offers a breakfast of oatmeal, bagels and cream cheese, pastries, as well as coffee, hot chocolate and orange juice. She also let us have a discount for weekly stays. Hotel handyman Augie carried in luggage and shoveled us out quickly after a blizzard. I just made reservations to come back in January for another week. This place feels personal and friendly, with great service.

Stacy and Augi may be the best hotel managers I've ever met. My girl-friend and our daughter arrived in Tahoe city after a un-planned day trip. The trip turned into an over night trip, due to an unexpected snow storm.
We pulled into the first hotel we found and the rates were outrages considering the lack of occupants (there were no cars in the parking lot) so we traveld another half mile down the street to find the "Lake of the Sky hotel." The front desk attendant (also manager, Stacy - I think her name was) answered the belll in a minute, even though we arrived in the middle of the night. She was very considerate and offered a discount due to the situation me and my family were in.
During the night the passing storm dumped 2 feet of snow on tahoe. The hotel had the parking lot plowed by 5am and the manager personaly helped dig the remaining snow off of my car (he even scraped the ice off my windows!). While my my car was warming up, the hotel invited my family in for breakfast and allowed us to watch the news on their private tv.
Grace and myself just wanted to say thanks for everything, Stacy and Augi were great!

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Lake Tahoe. The rooms are very comfortable and if you get the upgraded room, you have a very nice view of Lake Tahoe. The owners appear to be in the process of upgrading this very well located property and are extremely responsive to their guest's concerns. They serve more breakfast than you can imagine in their small office and it is very good with some home cooked items. Since there are no tables there, you must bring it back to your room to eat, but there was a table and chairs plus microwave and small refrigerator in our room. The free WIFI was excellent as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it as an excellent value.

The fact that I know the owner's name should tell you that this place is very warm and homey. We stayed there 2 nights for our anniversary over Labor Day and yes, the room was dated and there was a weird closet BUT for the cost and for Randy's excellent breakfast, I really liked this place. Will stay there again because the owner cares. And that's something you don't see everyday.
