We stayed in this hotel last weekend, staff friendly and great location but rooms need a big update, carpets very dirty and smelly, towels not sure if there were washed, this is budget place for the area its in it, but next time i'm planning to pay rather more and be in a clean place.

We liked how we felt welcome, they showed us the room and considering that it was a fairly cheap offer, it was very good, clean ok equipped.

We have carelessly left our passports in a drawer, we noticed that a couple of days later, but didn't know where. Several Hotels were possible. We called them all but most could not answer immediately because the rooms were occupied from new.

The Lake of the Sky Inn found the passports and left us a mail notice. As agreed, they sent the passports to the Swiss Embassy in San Francisco.
We were absolutely happy to have met such honest poeple, who made the effort with NO charge in advance. We really appreciate.

This place used to be nice, a little dated and funky but nice for the money and amenties. It recently sold this summer of 2011 and it has went to utter crap. We moved our vacation time to book our favorite room 24 and was assured we could have it but upon arrival they put us some where else. What used to be a nice continental breakfast was now some gross table scraps I wouldn't serve as pig slop. The pool was filled with more dead bugs than a stagnet pond. They took away the mirowaves in rooms, the picnic tables where you could BBQ, the grounds where completely overgrown and the usually beautiful green lawn was totally brown and dead, our toilet wouldn't flush making us move all our stuff to another room. They decided to try to fix that toilet at 10 pm the night before we left hearing them loudly trying to snake the toilet clear.We wer estaying five nights but after night #2 we asked to check out but they said they would not refund us any money for the 3 days we wanted to leave early. They also over charged us according to the rates from their webste by 20 bucks a night.The only shinning star was the maid service, super nice and totally honest. My wifes wedding ring fell of in the bed and when we returned to the room one evening we found her ring placed on her night table. That was really the only good thing that happend in our five nights at the Lake of the Sky Motor lodge. Stay away!!!

We booked this reservation thinking it would be a modest but clean accomodation -- especially since it had a two star rating. Wrong! Instead we pulled up to a building with old, gray colored wood siding that reminded us of a prison. Inside our room on the warm day that we arrived, there was no air conditioning. When we opened the mini frig to put some cold drinks away, the wire racks were rusted and the frig made noises which reminded us of waves lapping upon a shore. The limited TV channel selection was pointless because the picture was barely visible through the static "snow" of the poor connection. The carpeting had holes that had been patched and was now frayed around the edges along with some stains....the toilet seat's white paint had worn away in numerous places exposing the wood, the hook on the door was nailed to scrap wood nailed to the door, and there was no secondary security lock on the front door -- especially nerve racking when we saw some men loitering around outside when we returned from dinner. The breaking point was when I was brushing my teeth and saw red spider mites crawling around the counter and sink baisin. When I Googled to see what they were and how fast they reproduce, I got spooked. We left immediately and found another hotel - beautiful and clean -- close by. I can not imagine who would enjoy a night's stay here. Honestly, you would be better camping outdoors in the beauty of Tahoe than staying in this rat's nest.
