“our favorite place to stay!!”

We have stayed at the Cottage Inn for the past two years. We drive up in December/January to enjoy the skiing on the north shore. We picked the B&B based on reviews and a friend's recommendation and we are so glad we did! All of the cottages on site are absolutely adorable and oh so cozy. They sit right near the lake, and some cabins even have a view. We have stayed in the newer cottage in the "sail away" room, as well as "skiers chalet". Both were spacious, had a fireplace, and a hot tub (a must after a long day of skiing!). They serve an amazing breakfast every morning (quiche, french toast, eggs, etc). I was really surprised how great it was. I was expecting a continental type of breakfast but it was homemade and delicious! Plus they have a small happy hour each night where they serve wine and snacks in the main cabin. It is a great way to meet some of the other guests and relax. Plus the cottage is in a great location. There are a ton a great restaurants minutes away. The fabulous Sunnyside restaurant is walking distance, as well as a convenience store. Plus all the really nice ski resorts are minutes away. Homewood (one of our favorites) is a 3 minute drive down the road. Alpine and Squaw are about 15 minutes away, and Northstar is about 20. You couldn't ask for a better spot! While we were there they had a ton of snow, even got a foot overnight! I was concerned we wouldn't be able to get our car out the next morning, but they had all the roads plowed, as well as the sidewalks before we even woke up. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have recommended some great restaurants, hiking trails, and places to visit. We absolutely love this place! We plan to make this an annual trip, and we will be staying at The Cottage Inn every time.

Room Tip: if you are planning to ski/snowboard, choose a room with a tub!

“Lovely cottages!!!”

We stayed at the Cottage Inn in Lake Tahoe for a couple of nights, and had the most wonderful time!! Our room was huge with a king size bed, an amazing in room hot tub, and a very nice and cozy fireplace. The lady who owns the place was there at 9:00 p.m. to meet us and was very sweet and welcoming. All of the other staff was very polite and helpful as well. It was in a great location and even though there was a lot of fresh snow on the ground, the parking lots were plowed and the stairs to our cabin were shoveled and clean. Overall it was a very comfortable and cozy experience and the next time we go to Lake Tahoe for a vacation we will definitely stay at The Cottage Inn again!!!

2 miles from the Y intersection @ Hwy 89 next to everything that matters is The Cottage Inn
This Tyrolean cottage style place has no match in the area.Individual cottages and theme rooms give you the real Alpine Lake side experience and service that you would expect to pay more for.Beautiful landscaped and manicured with a short walk to one of the best rated Restaurants, not to mention its location is only 200 feet from the lake.We ski in the winter and vacationed here in the summer. In the winter we simply walk across the street to the Ski shuttle pick up to Squaw valley and Alpine Meadows Ski resorts.Summer we walk to The full pier and boat facility relax on their deck and take in the evening sunsets.
As a B&B we were served breakfast which was beautifully done simple yet elegant.Choice is not an option but they change daily the items served. We will never need to try another place when coming here as we have in the past.

Room Tip: Their all run you must go more than once

My wife and I traveled from the Bay Area and stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend. Our experience was nothing short of fantastic. The staff was very friendly, professional and accommodating. Everything from the amazing home cooked Thanksgiving dinner to the early morning breakfast to the quaintly decorated rooms and comfortable beds. We have spent a lot of time in the Tahoe area and this location is perfect for access to anything you want to do on the North Shore any time of year. They have a private beach on Lake Tahoe and are right around the corner from 4 major ski areas. The prices are below what you would pay at any other location, but the accommodations are much higher in quality, service and location. I love the accessibility to the owners. They are the sweetest couple from Germany who will happily interact with all guests and will make you feel so welcome. Almost all the other guests we met are regulars who come several times a year, so they must be doing something right. All the rooms are comfortable, but my favorite are the ones in the "new" building. They are larger and more comfortable, but equally as quaint as the older cottages. All of them are very tastefully decorated with their own theme. See their website for more details. This is definitely going to be our "go to" place when we come up every other weekend this winter for the skiing that is right around the corner. Thanks Cottage Inn and we look forward to seeing you all when the snow starts flying!!!!

Room Tip: Request the new building if you want a little larger bathroom, but all the rooms are very comfortabl...

We stayed in the "Old Fishing Hole" at the rear of the property. Quaint but rather small, particularly the bathroom. Bed comfortable. Coffee available in the lounge/dining area all day and complementary wine & cheese between 5&7pm.Breakfast nice but fairly basic. Service overall was totally satisfactory.
