“YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2010

To call this place a motel is great, if you wanted something from the Bagdad slums, they have people who live there and leave there doors open so you can see right in and your first impression is the right one,run and run fast and far cars with so much dust on them that they must have been there for 5 years, guessing they belong to the live-ins there, preschool kids painted the exterior.the room had a slight stinch to it and as mentioned before in other reviews, the carpet needed replacing years ago, lighting needed to be brighter, with dark hallways and stairways
The ocean view is beautiful, that is if you stand on your girl friends shoulders and lean to the right and can look around the homes that virtuely block your OCEAN VIEW or if she stands on your head figuring that she is shorter then you.
Actually there is one good thing and that is the resturant north on PCH with the giant fish , I think it says SEAFOOD, we had one of the best dinners we had on vacation, great service and was not over priced, we arrived a little late, almost closing time but were greeted as if we were the first ones there,KUDO"S to them.
if I could give this place,(sanatra inn) a 1/2 point, that would be very gracious, not what you'd call a pearl of sunset beach

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times over the past 5 Years. I would have to say this last time the room was not fit for the homeless. Harsh? Well no, the room had the aroma of Mildew, the A/C screen was so dirty it blew dust when I turned it on. took me 30 minutes to clean it myself. Carpet was, well just bad(Stained, bleached, tattered) I was in a situation where I had no choice all the other Hotels/Motels were booked. I do not know how they can charge more and do less.

“Very Surprised! And All Pleasant surprises!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

I stayed here alone with my twin daughters, looking for a place to spend Memorial Day weekend where we could be close to the beach, I could work and it b be a peaceful experience.

There was a mixup on my reservation so I had made a reservation with another nearby hotel, thinking I was not confirmed for this one. The other hotel was the most dreadful experience from the service to the room (talk about embellishment on the advertisement!) to the price (all the extra fees). It was so bad, that I decided to come and see if by chance there was any opening at the Sanatra Inn

As it turns out my reservation was solid, the manager showed me the room ( as I was a bit gun-shy at this point) and did everything possible to aid in me moviing my daughters in the middle of the night to this hotel. Yes, the other one was that bad.

Then over the next few days of our stay, the manager of this small hotel reminded me of what customer service truly was. ANYTHING we needed he supplied with a smile on his face. It was like we were staying with family. (family that you would want to stay with).

The walk to the beach was short and I could actually work on my laptop sitting on the balcony and watch my daughters building sand castles on the beach. The view was great!

This is hotel is DEFINITELY one of the hidden treasures of Sunset Beach. We are already planning our next weekend trip (two weeks from today).

“We stayed there last summer, and are booking our trip for this summer.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

The reviews from the "100% satisfied" customers sounds fony to me. lol.

We stayed there last summer, and it was exactly what we expected for our $100 a night being walking distance from the beach. -- It is an older building, so don't expect much. you truly do get what you pay for. This is a cheap motel, there is nothing fancy about it. However, the staff was friendly and helped us with our needs.

We went on a weekend trip (drive there friday, play saturday, drive home sunday).... so with that said, we weren't in our room for much more then sleeping and cleaning up from the beach. -- and for that type of trip, this motel was perfect. its a place to sleep and store our things.

We didn't see or have any issues with roaches. the "breakfast" was kind of sad -- a muffin and juice. but again, you are paying practically nothing for having the beach across the street.

and the other true reivews are correct about the "view"... if you are facing the ocean, you see the houses that are on the beach, this motel is right behind those houses..... not complaining though cuz it was less then 2 minutes to walk from our room to the beach.

I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to go on vacation on a budget. its nothing special by any means, but its a great deal if you can handle the run down-ness of the motel.

“One of the best places in Sunset Beach!”

I'm sorry but a lot of the people who seem to give Sanatra Inn a negative review don't seem to understand that this is a motel, and one of the best ones in Sunset Beach. If you are not familiar with the location of Sunset Beach then let me educate you: there are town-homes on the front row of the beach. Quite frankly the location of Sanatra Inn is perfect. Yes there are town-homes in front of it but the views of the ocean are amazing from their balcony.

They provide a mini-fridge and microwave. This is excellent for anyone who wants to save money during their trip, or preserve anything perishable. As for internet they have by far one of the best hi-speed internet service providers in the area-- this is great for those of us who use notebooks/laptops. The service is friendly. Both managers were kind, and respectful to our needs.

I read reviews where they complain about having to pay a petty quarter for ice from the ice machine -- let me remind you that this motel is on the beach and outsiders take advantage of whatever they can find (including ice, during the summer). So logically I can see why they charge for ice. As for the door that is open in the lobby -- its natural. There is a sign that says its for emergency purposes in case there is a fire or any sort of disaster.

Rooms are clean, and the beds were comfortable. We did not have any issues with hot water or television. So give it a shot like we did and enjoy Sunset Beach.
