I stayed three nights at the Larkspur Landing Sunnyvale while in town for a conference. I could not have been more surprised at how much I enjoyed this little hotel. Sunnyvale itself is somewhat charmless, and the hotel is right off the freeway, so I was bracing myself for a low-end experience. It was exactly the opposite. This hotel is quite nice inside. There's a sitting room just off the lobby with a fireplace and leather sofa. My colleagues and I gathered here each morning for our complimentary breakfast and it was totally pleasant. Check-in was fairly swift. The rooms themselves were the best surprise. They're larger than your standard hotel room, with a complete kitchenette and a nice desk. Two of my colleagues shared a suite that was even and had a separate sitting area in addition to the bedrooms. We all kept remarking that we hadn't expected this place to be so nice and the rooms to be so big.
The beds were comfortable and it was quiet at night. The wireless connection was great. The little basket of teas and snacks left in the kitchen was much appreciated. The business center downstairs had everything we needed for last-minute printing and organizing of documents. I really can't find anything to complain about here. I mean, they have warm cookies on the counter in the lobby at all times. That's the sort of thing I'd expect at a different category of hotel, so Larkspur Landing is really trying to elevate the experience at this property. Parking was plentiful. It was easy to get to and from our conference. All around, a great stay. If I ever find myself in Sunnyvale again, I know which hotel I'll be booking.
