“Four Points in Sunyvale closed - try Sheraton Sunnyvale”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2006

I was suprised to learn that the Four Points in Sunnyvale was closing Jan 2006. I have stayed there many times over the past few years becuase the rate was very good for the area. I just tried the Sheraton Sunnyvale and it was great. I did have to pay more but I wish I had done it sooner. The staff was sooo friendly and the rooms, though a bit dated, were incredibly clean. It was my first time but the front desk used my name and treated me like I had been there every week - and I wish I had been. It's not a typical high rise Sheraton, it has a bunch of tree and plants and feels very resort like. Kind of surprising in an industrial area.

“Didn't know the hotel, was pleasantly surprised”

Nice surprise, the Sunnyvale Four Points Sheraton.
I'm travelling a lot and liked this hotel.
-Room
I had a room in the first building next to the main building. Recently redecorated I heard. Nice beds, bathroom was ok. Room was clean but there still were a few things that reminded you of the pre-renovation room.
-Restaurant
The breakfast was average, nothing special. The food at the bar was average aswell. Don't expect anything exiting here. On the other hand, there's enough good restaurants close by. You will need a car or taxi though. Restaurants: Try the restaurant in the Marriott across the 101, a bit to the south.
-Service
Fine service, friendly people.
-Got-to-see
Fry's electronics on 1077 East Arques Avenue if you like electronics and gadgets. Across the 101 there's the AMC theatre with a few nice restaurants. For shopping please ask directions to the Great Mall (next to the 880), Valley Fare Mall (also next to the 880) or Gilroy (south on the 101, about 45minutes).

$90 for a nice room, with free wireless internet, free continental bfast and a good connection to the 101 is not a bad deal. I would stay here again.

“I would stay here again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2005

We were apprehensive about staying here based upon the reviews on this site. We would have stayed elsewhere, but the AAA rate we got was too good to turn down ($99 a night including full buffet breakfast for two and in-room movie). When we arrived, we were very pleasantly surprised.

The lobby entrance is done in a grand Spanish Mission style, complete with oversized fireplace and wrought iron chadelier. It was very inviting. The hotel consists of many parellel two story buildings. I can't speak for the room quality of all of them, but we requested one of the newly renovated rooms and were placed in the building nearest to the lobby. It wasn't perfect, but it was excellent for a 3 star hotel. The bedding was very comforable, and the dark red walls gave the room a warm feeling.

If you are travelling with a lot of heavy luggage or are disabled in any way, be sure to request a 1st floor room, as there are no elevators.

For dinner, there is an excellent microbrewery within walking distance. It's a bit more expensive then a Fridays or an Outback Steakhouse, but the food is phenomenal and the beer is great.

The buffet breakfast at the hotel is also very good. I don't know how much it normally costs, but the food was standard breakfast buffet, with a few pluses. For example they had a Japanese breakfast section with miso soup and grilled salmon.

On the whole, if I was in the area again and the price was right, we would not hesitate to stay here there again.

“below average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2005

I was excited to stay here because of the way the website makes it look so nice and the price was low. When we arrived, I was very dissapointed. It was really dirty. The roof looked like there was footsteps on the high inclined roof. There was loud talking throughout the night, the lake they described was not inviting, The bathmat in the bathtub was left there for all to step on, and it looked really dirty (black spots and discolored), very unsanitary for a bathtub. The lobby is nice, but thats about it. Its a good place if your just there to stopover, not good if your staying for a while. There are better hotels in the area for the same rate, some even with kitchens. Shop around before deciding on this place, its very motel like. I only stayed here to keep my points with the hotel's website Starwood, otherwise, it was a bad idea. I don't recomend

“Excellent Facility, Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2005

Our two night stay couldn't have been nicer. The room was spotless and the beds were super comfortable. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with many food options available. The pool and whirlpool were well maintained, and we enjoyed watching one particular duck who continually jumped into and out of the pool, looking for treats. The grounds are well maintained, in an attractive tropical setting. We were very satisfied.
