“Pleasant place to stay, even in the winter!”

We lucked out and enjoyed a mid-January sun-filled day of 65 degree weather. It got cold at night, and it was a little hard to keep the room temperature comfortable, but all in all, a very nice stay. I would love to come back in the summer. The beach is so close, you can hear the waves crashing in the distance on Stinson Beach.

The garden deserves special mention - it is spectacular and I can just imagine sitting there on a summer evening, relaxing after a day on the beach or in the surf. Oh - they have a fantastic selection of DVD's. Someone is a film nut and it shows in their library. That was fun, too. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Cabin 10 is the best - it looks out over the beautiful garden. And this garden is a joy.

“Wonderful Spot for families!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

We stayed at the Sandpiper in November and had a wonderful stay in the 2 bedroom, Cabin #10. If you like a rustic setting with the sound of crashing waves to sleep by, you will love it here. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The accomodations are not fancy, but are clean and comfortable. A classic beach cottage setting. Free wifi, board games, in room fireplace and DVD's made even a rainy day at the beach lots of fun. They even provide beach toys (buckets and shovels) for the kids to use. The local eateries are fantastic. The Sand Dollar for dinner is a must with great food and a piano player and warm fire creating a great ambiance. The cafe by the park is fantastic for breakfast and again for ice cream after a day at the beach. Even the motel garden is beautifully kept with grills and outdoor seating for guests to use. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Cabin #10 is adjacent to the garden and you can hear the waves from the garden side windows. This is...

“Very Nice Little Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

The Sandpiper is distinctive in that Stinson Beach has very few lodging options. It is a 1950s style motel, and is very well kept. We had a two bedroom unit - beds were comfortable and it is extremely quiet. It is only one block from the beach and the walk is so easy to do! There is a stunning garden, with beautiful flowers, quiet places to sit, and a barbecue. A kitchen made it easy to fix meals. There were families, couples and friends - everyone is welcome and everyone was friendly. We walked to the village for meals and some quick shopping. We were very lucky to have sunshine and warm days, which made the visit even better.

“A Full Five-Star Review”

Rooms are impeccably clean and filled with lots of nice amenities to make your stay comfortable. The staff goes out of their way to make your visit pleasant. In addition to the well appointed rooms, guests can choose from a wide variety of DVDs, books, and board games --- perfect for a stormy winter's night at the beach! All rooms have gas fireplaces (also perfect for a stormy winter night) and refrigerators and microwaves. Some have kitchenettes.

“Lovely spot”

We enjoyed the Sandpiper and Stinson Beach. We arrived late, after a long haul flight, and our keys were left out. It was great to open the door into a clean, comfortable, spacious room tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The town is charming, with a buzzing bar with delicious food and a diner that does a good breakfast. We didn't meet the owners of the hotel but it was a nice place to stay and a friendly town, ideal for the first couple of nights.
