This is a wonderfully maintained bed and breakfast in an elegant part of South Pasadena. The rooms are steeped in history, and the bedding and towels are lush and plush. Breakfasts are an extraordinary treat, prepared by Ron, a marvelous chef. The piece de resistance is the homemade cake or pie awaiting your tasting each evening in the living room. Stopping at only one slice is a near impossibility. Everyone associated with the home is friendly and helpful, making each visit like returning to visit close friends. We've stayed there at least four times and plan to continue staying there. After all, who wouldn't want to stay with close friends!

Our situation was trying to get a far flung family together for our daughter's graduation. The Bissell House fit the bill gracefully.

The spaces allowed for cozy reading in nooks, casual dining outdoors, and late night conversations in the living room. There was always tea and other beverages and a homebaked item for snacking in the afternoon into evening. The small refrigerator in the corner of the living room allowed us to store leftovers, and they kindly allowed us to utillize some of their cutlery/dishes to pull together a wine and cheese party on the pool deck.

The rooms were comfortable, with white noise machines available to tamp down the exterior sounds. Televisions were also available in each room, which were decorated attractively.

Breakfast was ample, delicious and healthy. And best of all, special accomodations were made for timing travel and events. They really were accomodating about this.

The property had ample parking; the gardens were lovely. All in all, the various family members were very pleased with our choice of the Bissell House.

Our son works and lives in downtown LA and we have always stayed in Beverly Hills when we visit him. But everything in LA was booked because of an international Microsoft convention and because the newlywed royal couple was in town. So, we got on the internet and found Bissell House. What a find. Lovely old home, great breakfasts, nice pool in the back, and all of that capped off with wonderful hospitality. The place was spotlessly clean with whimsical little pieces everywhere. South Pasadena is a great little town and Pasadena itself is even better. Cultural and epicurian center of the universe! We shall continue to use this find as our center of operations for a long time to come.

Nice, old, elegant home - wonderful place for a B&B! Great breakfasts, comfortable bed, tea & snacks in the afternoon, pool & patio area. So much better than staying in a hotel!
