Our room was ok, could really use some updating. Very dark and the lighting was inadequate. The beds were fine, the TV's old and baths also dated. We were there over the Thanksgiving holiday and it was crowded. The breakfast room was not sufficient for the number of guests. The food which was an extra $10.00 was not as good as Hampton Inns.
The overall experience was adequate but I like to really enjoy a stay and use it as a mini vacation.

We have stayed at many Best Westerns and this was the BEST of them. Near the Reagan Library and easy to locate. We arrived after the evening refreshment time and the staff kept it open so we could take a break with wine and cheese while checking in after a long days drive. When asking the staff about local restaurants to eat they printed out a list of special restaurants. What great service -- far beyond what is normal at this late evening check in time. The morning breakfast included is the best we have had at any Best Western -- Omelets, full breakfast and lots of choices. The hotel & suites are spacious and very nice.

We stayed one night in order to visit the Reagan Library. Location was great for this purpose. While the exterior appears outdated and our rooms could be refurbished, the beds were very comfortable. The AC units are loud, but cooled the room quickly. The breakfast buffet was very good and included many choices. Much better than most motel breakfasts. When we revisit the area, we would stay again. It was a quiet Sunday night, so we can't speak to the times when there is a wedding or large group staying at the hotel. Staff we encountered were very friendly. Only drawback was we were on the second floor and had large luggage for our two week trip to CA. Assistance was offered, but we declined. Just an FYI for less mobile travelers.

I stayed at the Posada Royale Hotel and Suites in Simi Valley in order to visit the Reagan Library, and the hotel is located just a couple of miles from there, so it is very convenient for that purpose. The hotel I stayed in at Los Angeles had given me the wrong directions to Simi Valley, and I had to call the Posada Royale to inform them I would be very late, and for help in finding them. My first experience driving on Los Angeles area freeways. The desk clerk, Erin, provided perfect direction over the phone, despite being busing checking in guests. When I finally arrived, I found that the only room still available would require carrying my luggage up several steps, and it was a double queen, rather than the king I had reserved. The assistant desk clerk, Danny, who had been off duty for over an hour, volunteered to carry my suitcases up the short flight of steps for me. The next morning, when I spoke to the clerk, Courtney about the mixup of the previous evening, she upgraded me to a king suite, 101-closest to the handicapped parking spot! The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. I slept very soundly all three nights. The furnishings are a little dated, but still nice, and everything worked. I had high-speed wired internet in my room, and wireless in the public areas of the hotel. As for the TVs, both worked OK, they are connected to Lodge-Net, which is a third party television service provider for the hotel industry, and I blame the poor reception on them, rather than the Best Western. They served a great buffet-style breakfast each morning as part of the room rate. What really set this hotel apart from many others at which I have stayed was the quality of the staff. I received better service at the Best Western Posada Royale than I have at some five star hotels around the globe! Every concern was efficiently and satisfactorily resolved in minutes, laundry service was excellent, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Again, Courtney excelled with recommendations on dining (try Barton's Steaks or Palapa's Mexican Grill, both on Los Angeles Avenue!!!), directions to local shopping etc.. The employees of the Posada Royale truly went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, and set a higher-standard in hospitality! The final positive about this hotel is when I checked out, my bill for three nights, breakfasts, laundry, and all the the quality service was only 2/3 of the cost of my stay for one night in Los Angeles!!! I am an extremely discriminating traveler, and highly recommend the Best Western Plus Posada Royale Hotel whenever you find yourself in the area of Simi Valley, California!
