“Nice..but lacking in some areas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We arrived on a Friday nite 15-30 minutes before check in and the front desk was not ready--at all! The hotel is now part of the Hilton chain...but does not live up to it's new name. The hotel is nice but need some updating. The elevators are soooo slow!!!! The rooms are great for families and the hotel is definitely family friendly. Nice to have an indoor pool and workout room. The breakfast is really nice and the breakfast service staff were great! We would rate the hotel as a "B", breakfast as an "A" and check in as a "C"

We will prob not return unless they lower their prices as we feel there are better hotels in the area for the $150 we paid per nite.

“It could be better,,,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We always enjoy staying at this hotel due to the spacious rooms, the complementary breakfast and of course the afternoon cocktails. During our last stay, it is disappointing to say that we were awaken by an alarm @ 2:30 am and 4:30 am that we needed to evacuate the building. The hotel did not apologize nor informed us the causes of the successive false alarms. Also, the hotel should have policies regarding the breakfast food- children should not be allowed to touch nor get the food on their own. We saw children touching and returning food on the buffet tables. Housekeeping staff was great,,,special request due to my physical setback was accommodated promptly.

“Housekeeping needs improvement”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I just came back from an overnight stay with my family in this hotel. We are regulars of Embassy Suites but this one failed my housekeeping standard. We arrived late in the afternoon and went out to dinner right after checking in. We walked around the Cannery Row in Monterey and came back to the room (RM 800) late. Only then did I notice how filthy the toilet bowl was. Whoever did the housekeeping needs to look carefully at the toilet. It was disgusting! Sure the inside was clean but once you close the lid, you will see that the toilet was filthy. Again, disgusting! Not only was there a big yellow stain on the lid but also a yellow stain on the back of the seat. To Embassy Suites housekeeping - GO BACK TO TOILET CLEANING 101!
The rooms are supposed to be refurbished but the hotel failed to replace one inexpensive item - THE TOILET SEAT!!!!

Room Tip: Check the rooms and toilets first before you head out of the door.

“Nice hotel, good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

room was great, plenty of room. only complaint is we had to pay $10 for internet and the speed was worse than dial up. quiet, comfy beds, other than needing internet to get caught up on some work, good hotel choice.

“3 elevators for 200+ rooms who's idea was that?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

There are 12 (? not sure) floors in this hotel and over 200 rooms. There are 3 TINY elevators. We literally had to wait 30 minutes to get down to our car with bags and children. Never seen anything like it :((
Free breakfast in the morning was sheer madness with tons of people storming 2 small food stations. Poor servers could not keep up, trays were empty within 5 minutes. Eggs were the most horrible powdered eggs ever. Bacon was terrible, could not swallow a bite, tasted strange and artificial. Finally had a bagel, the only ones left were onion ones....
5PM there is a free bar in the lobby that turns into a drinking contest. Guests compete in who can swallow the free drink the fastest and run back for the next one. They also promise light snacks - like pop corn, crackers and peanuts, but there are just empty trays that noone fills. The whole thing was sad to watch and I wish the management would give up the idea.
All rooms face into interior common vestibule, 12 stories tall. You also have a huge window next to the door, so no sleep till 10PM, or during the day, cause the noise level is HIGH. Also there is piano playing at night, so if you want to sleep early - choose another hotel.
Pool was ice cold. I got my kids out in 15 min and we left.
Overall - terrible experience. Staff is very pleasant though, but that's no help.
