We just returned from a week's stay at the Oakwood Apartments in Seal Beach. We will be moving to the area and needed to find a home. We found Oakwood to be a very nice place to stay during a very busy and hectic trip. As others have mentioned, the grounds of the complex - from the front all the way through the property are VERY well maintained. In fact, each morning when I got up to walk, there was someone watering plants, cleaning poolside deck chairs, and doing general maintenance work.
Our room was super quiet - we were on the 2nd floor and near the end of the unit. The one bedroom had everything you need - excellent space, modern amenities. Comfy bed with nice pillows.TV's in den and in bedroom, great little stereo in the den (recommend CSULB's jazz station 88.1) Very ample parking! The property is well-lit at night, and there is a security gate to the main entrance.
If we could offer suggestions: Go to the grocery store on your first day and get stocked with basic items: paper towels, TP, coffee, etc. It was not explained to us that the housekeeping service does not replace these items - which, was a downfall in our book! Having stayed at other extended stay properties where those items are available for the short-term stays.
Also - get your own breakfast items - the continental breakfast was very limited and there is nothing offered on Saturdays. On Sunday there is a brunch from 11-1? - but it seems that other guests were as confused as we were about when, where, etc. Better idea: go down to the corner of PCH and 2nd and look for Hof's Hut: EXCELLENT food, super fast service and breakfast is served anytime :) And it is next door to Alberston's grocery store - so you can pick up your household items!
