“Never again”

We arrived to the hotel late Saturday night and I was very tired and had a splitting headache. I had flown in from the east coast that morning, compounding my urge to sleep.

I was given the room right next to the office, which was noisy with the door slamming all the time, but that didn't really bother me that much.

There was no remote control for the TV. There were crumbs and other dirt on the kitchen counter. The door to the fuse box between the bedroom and bathroom would not close and jutted out into the hallway the whole time. There was no shampoo (or anything else) in the bathroom (I still cannot believe that - I stay in a LOT of hotels and they all have shampoo). The only glass to use in the bathroom was a tall drinking glass from the kitchen cabinet. The toilet barely flushed. The shower head pointed straight down unless you held it with your hand. The wireless internet was not complimentary (I waited to use the free wireless on the square in Healdsburg the next morning). The whole place had a very dingy feel to it - especially the bathroom. Other people in my party had similar or worse experiences including a room that smelled like cat pee, having the hair dryer on loan from the front desk start a fire, and being kept up much of the night by rhythmic banging from the floor above.

The place looks OK from the outside, but believe me it's not worth the price - spend a few bucks more and stay anywhere else.

“hated this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2007

Stayed at this hotel on june 17th and it was not a good night. The rugs were very dirty, had stains all over. The linoleum in the bathroom was so old and worn it looked dirty. The bed was so awful I couldn't sleep, I don't think they have bought new mattress since 1970. It looks good from the outside, but I would not stay here again

“Looks great on the outside, old on the inside”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2007

My husband and I stayed only one night at the hotel. I agree with the other writers in that the hotel was noisy. Not just 101 traffic, but also there is a hospital nearby, so we heard ambulances all the time (it was a Saturday night). The hotel looks great from the outside, but once we went in we were a bit disappointed. Hotel looks a bit rundown. I didn't feel as bad after my husband told me it was a two star hotel. We asked for an early check-in because we had a funeral to attend at 1pm (we had travel all night from out of state). The staff said they would try, but couldn't guarantee anything. We got to the hotel at 12pm and they said there wasn't a room clean yet. We found this surprising (especially after reading the last users comment) that housekeeping wouldn't have at least one room clean when check-out time was 11am. SO, we waited until almost 1pm before we could get into our room. I can't really complain about that since check-in time was at 3pm and they did get us in before that time. It just would have been nice if we could have gotten in a little bit earlier. Room was clean. Kitchen was nice to have. There were a few dishes but only two cups. The cups were stained, so we ended up not using them. The hotel only provides two bars of soap. No shampoo, conditioner, etc., so be prepared to bring your own. Another plus about the hotel is that they allow pets. We brought our dog with us, so this was a nice convenience. Overall, not a bad ...but just remember that it is a budget hotel.

“Okay, but not as the critics promised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2007

We stopped at this hotel after checking the so far critics on this site. Unfortunately, it turned out that they promised too much or perhaps our expectations were too high.
The room was very big and very clear but also looked a little old. There is a small kitchen in the room. Plates & silverage is provided which is very good.
The motel doesn't offer any breakfast - be prepared. We weren't and therefore had to drive 2 miles to reach the next market and buy some stuff.
Unfortunately, the place is very noisy. Not because of the nearby highway but you can almost hear every word of your neighbour.
I can recommend this place and would probably stay again but your expectations should not be too high.

“Freeway Noise Unbearable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2006

This hotel faces the freeway and a very busy intersection. 50% of the rooms are on the wrong side. If you are in the unlucky 50%, expect to hear motorcycles and trucks all night long. We had our airconditioner on high all night, but still heard the loud, continuous traffic noise. Got about 2 hours of sleep for the evening. Construction of the rooms is cheap and basic. Everything is bottom of the line, including kitchen and bath floor from 1960. Ladder truck boys hanging out in the parking lot drinking beer as well. Looked like they were regulars.
