“A Dump that at least allows dogs”

I found myself needing a place for 1 night. With my 2 dogs. That was worth a star to me. A search on the web found listed this "hotel", one that I had driven by many times. Hence, a second star for its convenient location.

Then, the reality of the place set in...it was an Extended Stay place that was actually a small studio apartment-like room, with very few of the amenities one would need to be comfortable (no paper towels, no diswashing liquid), tiny bathroom towels...starting to get the picture? The front desk told me upon check-in that there was 1 trolley for the entire place for guests to use to get there luggage in. "But, um, I don't know where it is right now..." was the front desk reply. Just an example of not enough anything, with no one there from the hotel to care about it.

Additionally, there were very intoxicated people in the hallways at all hours of the day and night, leading me to wonder if it was a vouchered County Shelter place for the homeless??
I didn't even ask, as I left early as possible the next day.

Room Tip: First floor is best/avoid the slow and smelly lift

“Convenient location, horrible service”

I had booked a room at this Extended Stay more than a month in advance for a half marathon event in Windsor for 'One King Bed and sleeper sofa.' When my husband, brother-in-law, and me arrived we found all they had available to us was a King bed with no other options for additional room because the hotel was overbooked. The manager was not on site but was reachable by phone for the one front desk staff (the manager refused to speak to us on the phone). At first they said 'no rollaways available,' and then after much ado they agreed to put a rollaway in the room. When we returned later that evening there was no rollaway to be found (story about the elevator was broken...). Out of luck I happened to see one in the hallway on another floor and dragged it to the room (incredibly disgusting bed too). Long story short I spoke with the manager after the overnight stay and she said she had put a gift certificate in the mail for a free overnight. I told her the issue was that we should have been accommodated with at least a discount for the night we were there and the room we requested be taken off their inventory when people book online (only one in their inventory according to manager). She said she would get back to me after she spoke with her Regional Manager. Now it's been two weeks and no reply and no gift certificate. Really amazingly bad service -we wanted an inexpensive place to lay our heads and it turned into a serious ordeal. So just a heads up to future bookings to call the hotel and make sure they have the exact room type you need.

“Fairly good place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

ESA Santa Rosa-North was a decent stay for me and my family despite the previous reviews. Maybe they've gotten better. We booked a studio with double beds. The room was spacious, clean had kitchenette which is a big plus for families with young kids. We had no problem with front desk staff and not any bad incident during our stay. The hotel location (there's not much to check out in Santa Rosa) is pretty close to Sonoma, and it's a good value if you don't want to pay the over priced and cutie hotels/B&Bs in that area.

“Excellent choice for a budget minded traveler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

We needed a one night stay in a very expensive area. Santa Rosa is just over the hill from Calistoga & the Napa Valley. The price was right, the place was clean & had a full kitchen. The desk clerk was very helpful and friendly. Good shower & quiet.

“Good location, great internet rates, challenging internet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

I have stayed at this property several times and each time I have challenges with Internet. Not sure what the problem is but I have tried three times to write this review and the internet signal keeps going in/out. The front desk staff are trying their best to provide guests with a good experience but they can only do so much with the property/owners they represent. Much better location than the Extended Stay Hotel in South Santa Rosa which is in a MUCH less attractive area. This is a great location if you like to walk as the hills of Fountaingrove provide a good bit of exercise and you may spot a fox or deer on your walk. For a yummy and satisfying bar or dining experience, walk across the street to The Fountaingrove Inn.
