“You HEAR Everything!”

Okay so my friend and I needed a place to stay for New Years Eve and this was the closest, cheapest, and was ranked I think number 4 out of top 10 so I thought not too bad.

The good: location (about 3 miles from the heart of everything); the rooms (we reserved a 2-queen room and got that and a kitchenette - all clean and presented well); kitchenette; tv (nice with all upgraded stations).

The bad or not so good: the walls/your neighbors/the noise (while taking a nap I was awaken by my upstairs neighbors conversation - I could hear it ALL & they had a child with them that loved to jump and bounce. I also heard the next door neighbor drop the lid to the toilet- yeah waaaaaay too close); the extra blanket (smelled of cigarette smoke- yuck); parking ( we were in building 2 and the spaces were tiny- there wasn't a turn around so when leaving we will have to back up into Pico Blvd)

Our stay hasn't been completed so I cannot speak of the breakfast services. I can say the people at the front were very pleasant.

Would I stay here again? It would not be my first choice. But it wasn't bad enough to write it completely off. I would just bring earplugs. Lol!

“Great place to stay 15 minutes from LAX”

We stayed at the hotel on our first night in LA after our long international flight. It is a very easy drive and only took about 15 minutes to get there in our hire car. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. We had off-street parking for our car and it was very close to our room. The room was very comfortable for a family of four, although it wasn't the largest we had on our trip. There were plenty of options for food nearby, including a Trader Joe's grocery store across the road. We were travelling on to Yosemite the next day and the hotel is very handy to the I-10 highway which took us on our way.

Overall, it was a great place to launch our holiday in the USA.

“First-rate hotel in an interesting neighborhood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We stayed at this property for four nights in mid-December and were elated at the generous value for the price paid. Room features we enjoyed: very comfortable firm mattresses, a well-lit desk, an HDTV, and a very clean atmosphere. We slept soundly every night. The staff is friendly and there is always hot coffee available in the lobby.

We walked the neighborhood and discovered a wealth of attractions: Trader Joes is a block away, the "Unurban Coffee House" is just across Pico Blvd. Venturing several blocks away we found an excellent breakfast-lunch restaurant, the "Crazy Daisy" on 23rd and Pico Blvd. Directly across Pico from this cafe is a good-size Saturday Farmers Market.

We strongly recommend this property. It offers better value than the much pricier beach hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main building on the second floor.

“A Great Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I stayed here in December from a Monday to Friday and found it to be really clean, very comfortable with, in my opinion, excellent facilities for a basic hotel. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. On request for a quiet room in the main building, I was given an ideal & well equipped ground floor room. The breakfast had a good selection and I loved the coffee machine with ground coffee provided in my room! I would certainly stay here again:)

Room Tip: Ground floor facing 31st was quite quiet - you still hear neighbouring traffic but the Blvd. is a m...

“Bliss, but a bit far from everything.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 November 2011

First of all, this review will be outrageously biased because we were upgraded to a huge 2 queen-size room at no extra charge for reasons I never understood. So, this is a GREAT hotel / motel. Pico is a busy road, and you are only 3 blocks from the I-10, but because the rooms are well built and, exceptionally for a motel, open onto central indoor corridors, there is no noise. The room was exceptionally comfortable, to the point where I regretted we only had one night. Breakfast was pleasant, although in a small room with limited tables (the upside is you get to share the table and chat with other travellers).
Staff are amazingly friendly.
The only downside is you are on 31st street, which means 28 blocks from the wonderful Santa Monica 3rd street area, but that is so little inconvenience given it's a dead straight line, and that parking is so plentiful and easy at 3rd street.
We paid $131 including 16$ city tax, mid-November rates. I'd come back in a heartbeat. Santa Barbara should hang it's head in shame.
