I had a work project a few blocks away at the Santa Monica Police Department. The location of this hotel worked perfectly for me because I could simply walk to work and back everyday. As a Platinum, I was treated very well. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in because they said that there is no charge for parking when you're Platinum. The rooms are, as some have said, not large. They are also not very new. But the TV is new, the bedding is good, and I got a good night's sleep. The hotel looks north and south so you don't really have a true view of the ocean, but the room I had did have a partial view looking north toward Malibu. The hotel is about a block from the pier and there are lots of places to walk to and eat at nearby. The service here was very good. I asked for a very late check out on the last day and was given it at no additional charge. I had dinner each evening in the hotel bar/restaurant. I highly recommend the caesar salad with grilled salmon. One of the greatest parts of the hotel was the bartender, I believe her name was Eugenia. She was there each night, and remembered what I wanted to drink each time I came back. She was very personable and said she's been with the hotel for about 20 years or so. Having good people who make you feel "at home" is a big deal when you're away from home all the time. The only complaint I had about this hotel was the sink in the bathroom. If you've read reviews from me before, you know I how much I hate the older "low" level vanities. If they'd re-do the bathrooms in the hotel rooms, it would have been much better for me. But I'd probably still stay here again anyway.

It is a very convenient place to stay but Rooms are somewhat small and dated. I would still return for short stays.

Myself and my Husband have stayed in the HInn Santa Monica on 2 occasions and have loved it both times. The room we were given on the second stay had a nicer view as the first looked on to McDonalds and unfortunately a lot of homeless people sleeping outside or hanging about at all times. I'm not bringing down the homeless people of Santa Mon as they have to have somewhere to go but it's not necessarily the view you want from your room, so the 2nd room which although looked over the freeway, you could also see more of the beach. There was one member of staff who was fantastic and was either the Manager or the supervisor as seemed to be the one who resolved any issues. Most of the other staff were also very helpfull but didn't seem to have a good grasp on English (or should I say Scottish, which we are haha). We got the courtesy bikes on our second stay, which was a grea way to spend a day in the sun. The location would have been given 5 but as I said at the front of the hotel there was quite a few characters hanging about and if I was on my own I would've felt quite intimidated walking past.
One disappointing point was the Bathroom and the lack of toiletries, I don't think we even got any shower gel on either occasion, but did get soap and body lotion which is unusual.
The bed was amazing and very very comfortable, as where the chairs and loungers in the room.

All in all a lovely hotel, with a few minor issues in the rooms but nothing to worry about as the plus' outweighed the cons'.

The hotel has a perfect location, just steps from Santa Monica´s pier and 5 min walking from the main street.
Private parking, but there is a charge.
Rooms are spacious and so cleaned.
Staff very attencious and helpful.
Easy to reach from the highway, and just 20 min from Los Angeles Downtown.
Breakfast not included in the room rate, and it´s expensive.
5 blocks away there´s a Denny´s that offers Express Menu for breakfast from U$ 5.
Internet is free, but the conection is slow.
Highly recommended.
