The motel was mostly clean and fairly well kept for it's age. There seemed to be a lot of live-ins on site. The major problem I had with this hotel was the couple next door fighting at midnight and someone else locking their teenager out of the room who then proceeded to bang on the door quite loudly. Noise moved around the motel easily and if you are a light sleeper you will not get much rest.

When we checked in, the queen we had reserved was not ready yet, so we were given a king at no extra charge. Although the Fodor's description says non smoking, there were ash trays in the room, and the smell of smoke. The freshly painted room had a bed, dresser, and 2 plastic lawn chairs. The bed was the hardest we'd ever slept on, too hard to be comfortable. The bathroom floor was nicely tiled, and the sink and toilet looked relatively new. When I tried to use the shower, the hot water came out, but turning the cold water knob produced no cold water. After some twisting, we were able to use the cold water. There was very little water pressure. The room was generally clean, but the blinds were very dirty. Motel is at a busy intersection, so expect some traffic noise. It is 14 non-scenic blocks from the beach. We had a car, so it was a quick 5 min. ride to the beach parking lot. We knew this was a budget motel, so we weren't expecting anything fancy, but we were disappointed. A comfortable bed and decent shower are manditory.
