“Pricey for the quality but I think we paid for location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Rented this room the weekend of the Santa Barabara Marthon. Chose this place due to the price (sadly $136 per night was pretty much the cheapest I could find for this area), and the very close distance between the finish line and this hotel.

Rooms: very basic and hotel looking. I think this place used to be something else because the rooms were motel style and seemed to be older. They were fine though. Bonus: there is a mini fridge which proved to be great to hold leftover pizza from dinner. Bathroom was tiny but seemed clean. Dark. why are hotel rooms always so dark? Parking was handy and right in front of the room.

we stayed two nights but honestly only slept and showered in the room. We were out and about in the evenings and busy with the marathon (or napping after the marathon) other than that.

Staff: fine

Location: really nice. easy to walk to several locations

It was a Days Inn so I wasn't expecting anything special. Rooms suited our needs and I'd probably be willing to stay there again.

Room Tip: we had a ground floor room and I thought it was quite handy (it rained a lot so it was nice to get f...

“Good location, decent room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

I chose this motel mainly because of the location and the price - just a block from the beach for $70 a night seemed like a good deal. And I got what I paid for: a simple but satisfactory and clean room and a decent bed.
There were only two things that bothered me: it was rather noisy and the wifi connection was very unstable. I'm not sure I'd stay here again.

“Handy location, but a bit noisey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

This was our first night's accommodation after a 14 hour flight and the drive up from LA. We needed a good night's sleep, but the noise from the street, the sport field across the road and hotel guests slamming car doors late into the night prevented any chance of a decent night's sleep.
The room was small, but OK, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was small and in need of refurbishment.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was disgusting.
Value for money was pretty poor, especially compared to our accommodation in Monterey Quality Inn), which was 75% of the cost and twice as good.

“Better than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I usually avoid low budget lodging and didn't have high expectations. I was visiting during a UCSB parent weekend so reasonable priced hotels were out of the question. I was staying for one night and needed a room just to crash. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the room and area. Across the way is a park (bonus), a block or so to the beach (bonus), few minutes to drive to State Street, bathroom was small but clean, no broken tiles, no dirt, etc. Cons: thin walls (but I kept the fan on - no issues), TV is old school, bed cover thin but I anticipated that and brought my own blanket & pillow. So, if you want to save money or avoid high cost S.B. hotels this is a chance worth taking - try it out at least once.

“good motel. would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

stayed here for 2 nights in june 2011.
2 people for 2 nights = $294.32 inc all taxes etc. (monday x 2 nights)
arrived in santa barbara initially for the one night whilst doing 3 week trip off california. hadnt prebooked, arrvived about half 6pm and seen the vacancy sign. we loved santa barbara and decided after checking in we wanted to stay another night. nice friendly fella on reception, gave us tips on where to eat, drink, tours and where to head out for the night. got a room at the back of the motel where the 2nd car park is (free car park) room was adequate. 2 double beds, little bathroom area. clean and tidy, it is a motel not a hotel and we would def saty here again. little swimming pool and you get breakfast in the price (although its continental so croissants wrapped up in cling film and coffee!) defo recommend doing the red trolley tour that sets off down the beach. takes bout 45mins. our guide was daft as a brush, very comical, wish i could remember his name. we walked back to the motel after a night out took bout 20mins (wearing heels) recommend getting a taxi if you can find one. it was a monday night so wasnt busy at all in the pubs but still met fellow backpackers and had a great night. enjoyed the farmers market too.would def return to santa barbara and stay longer- next time i will time it in at a weekend. overall reasonable priced motel in santa barbara and enjoyed staying here.

Room Tip: we wanted a roo at the back by the second car park.
