I stayed 2 nights at this hotel on a biz trip. The hotel has been converted from apartments. The kitchen and bathroom needs updating badly while the bedroom was tastefully updated. I wouldn't make a special trip to Santa Barbara to stay at this hotel, but the price was right. About a 10 minute walk to the beach.

This is an excellently maintained, mission-style hotel complete with fountain, vine-covered breakfast porch and tiled stairways. The front lobby features a fireplace and comfortable seating where guests often gathered to visit. Generous continental breakfast, wine & cheese late afternoon, cookies and milk in the evening, and dozens of movie DVDs for free use in your room. The front desk staff is extremely welcoming, helpful and knowledgable about area activities, dining, etc. The hotel is a short walk to lively State St for dining and shopping, and only a couple blocks from the beach and pier. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here with a few girlfriends. Short walk to the harbor, Sterns wharf, etc. The service was really great. Very helpful folks at the desk recommended a great lunch spot and pub. Enjoyed the free bike loan, free happy hour, and good breakfast buffet included. This is a remodeled 60's or 70's motel. Nice, comfy beds. Old bathrooms - hope you find painted plywood cupboards charming. Our room was in need of some TLC - patched walls still in need of paint and an annoyingly rattly window. Overall a good, clean, basic stay.

We stayed here in December for a 5 day relaxed vacation. This was our first vacation with a baby and this hotel was a great choice. Vacationing with a baby meant slow pace and many dinners in the room as the little one would be tired after a day out and we didn't want to disturb her night time routine. The beds are so comfy that I would fall asleep 10 minutes into a movie almost every night. The rooms have DVD players and the lobby has a huge collection of DVDs that you can take back to your room. They also have wine and cheese in the evenings and milk and cookies after that. So if you're looking for a laid back hotel and one where you will be staying in a lot, this place is an excellent choice. Not sure how it is in the summer but I'm sur it's great as its a short walk from the beach.
