Three nights were spent at this lovely hotel on Bath Street, less than 2 blocks from the beach. A perfect location for exploring Santa Barbara and all its offerings. We arrived quite early in the day and the manager had a room ready for us. How kind to have the chance to begin the day early with our things in the room and off to the Santa Barbara Art museum( do not miss this). We enjoyed the stay, the daily breakfast in the lobby that was quite good and the most helpful staff, accommodating to our needs and very informed. Although the room was a bit small(cozy), it was clean and adequate. It met our needs, price range and for what our needs were, this was a perfect spot. I have stayed at the Harborview, (a few blocks away) for 2.5 times the cost ( yes a much more elegant room and bath) but this was perfectly fine and the service 500% better with no attitude from the staff that I had my last visit to Harborview. Enjoy this lovely little spot for a getaway at a reason cost.

I have enjoyed frequent stays at the Franciscan and found it to be the perfect spot to relax in Santa Barbara. The place has a friendly vibe, and the staff is knowledgeable and personable. Auntie Carol serves the breakfast and will fill you in on local events and history that you won't read in any guidebook. I like that the pool and spa are in separate areas, and although you will occasionally hear a train whistle (in the daytime), it's comfortably away from traffic, a block from the beach. I have felt comfortably at home here, and it 's always great to feel welcomed by the loyal staff.

This place in only a short walk to the ocean. Rooms are comfortable. Nice continental breakfast in the morning.
