“Worth considering”

Great little find in a place so expensive. Poll was clean, bed was comfy, bad points: view of car park but look further and you can see the mountains, no fridge in room just an ice bucket!! Smaller that average room but was ok for 3 nights. Front desk very helpful and free wifi! Good 20 min trek to State Street and pier but the walk itself takes you through 2 different parks with water features, wildlife and some colourful plants and flowers and interesting people!!!

“Found it last minute at night, cheap rate and pleasantly surprised”

My friend and i didnt have anything booked for SB and figured we'd find something when we got there. We were traveling on a budget and opted for the Motel 6 - which had no vacancy at 9 p.m. that night. Guy told us to check next door at Pacific Crest. We got the last room in the place and it was under $100 for the night -- can't remember exactly, but maybe it was $89? Which we considered a very good rate considering our room was clean and HUGE. King sized bed, tons of space, big bathroom, balcony etc. The entire place looked like something out of the 60s which I thought was kinda funny. It was clean and that's all I care about when spending one night in a cheap place just to crash. We were both relieved that it wasn't a dump and felt comfortable in the room.

If you need a last min place to stay and don't care about any kinda frills, I definitely recommend it (and I'm picky about cleanliness - slept in my sleeping back in a hotel we booked last minute in Monterey, so...).

TIP: If you're paying more than $100/night you're being ripped off!

This place was HORRIBLE!!!!!
Let me just say that we had the most disgusting room we have ever been in, so bad we couldn't sleep in the room and ended up leaving and staying somewhere else in the middle of the night.

We checked in at 5pm and dropped our bags off in the room and immediately left as we were trying to make early dinner reservations. We didn't get back to the room until 10pm. Upon getting back to the room at 10pm and actually looking at what we were going to have to stay in for the night, it only took us an hour or so to realize these were unlivable conditions:

the rooms are not all as pictured on their website, I will be posting pictures of what we were met with, GROSS!

The bathroom was very dirty. Massive amounts of soap and other nasty build up was along the edges of the shower/door. Nasty red "bodily fluid" type substance streaked the wall adjacent to the bathroom sink.

The doors were old/thin wood doors that were very dirty. The windows were old glass paned windows that didn't open properly. The carpets (some rooms have new laminate hardwood floors) in our rooms were in horrible condition. a mix/match of furniture made up the room, including an old outside patio table as our sitting table.

However the LAST STRAW came when we saw that the bed had BUGS crawling on it. We discovered this when, as I sat on the bed to grab something out of my bag, my wife screamed "YOU HAVE BUGS CRAWLING ON YOU!!" I leaped out off the edge of the bed to see several little black bugs crawling on the comforter.

We called the night manager and returned our key and said we would come back in the AM to speak with the owner and that we were not staying due to the unhealthy quality of the room.

We ended up staying at another inn just down the road and finally felt safe/clean!

when we went back to talk to the owner, we were met with a nasty toned owner who continuously attacked me on a personal level saying things such as "spoiled, arrogant, a pain in his [--], stuck up" none of which are true, I just don't think someone should pay for a room where bugs are crawling on the bed and mold is eroding the shower door, AM I WRONG?

He said that since we checked in at 5pm we had no reason to not pay, claiming that since we had the key from 5-11:45pm we should have known right away if we didn't want the room. I told him, to deaf ears, that we simply dropped our bags off and split and didn't think we would need to inspect the room and check the bed for bugs prior to heading to dinner.

He fought us tooth and nail against giving us any money back. When I brought up the bugs on the bed, he flipped out and threatened me with his lawyer and then asked if I BAGGED THE BUGS UP AS PROOF?! As if anyone in their right mind would bag bugs!

After taking him through the room and showing him the conditions he finally refunded the money, as he claimed, simply off the basis that i was really becoming a "pain in his [--]!"

Consider yourself warned! If you don't mind bed bugs, foot disease from shower fungus, and verbal harassment, the location to the beach is great!

Oh and did I mention that the first thing we did when we arrived back to our room at 10pm was to try the TV. Our tiny TV didn't work and we had to call the night manager in to fix it, he peeled the tape off of the remote, grabbed a chair and tugged on some cords (all while large amounts of dust were flying in to the air), He finally got it to work.

To the the credit of the night manager, he was a nice guy just trying to keep the ship afloat, he was kind. The owner, he was another story......

“Not bad in a very expensive place”

We found this motel after a little driving around. So many of the hotels etc are very pricey. This one is a little further up the road (about 30 mins walk along the beach to the main pier and State St). Still seems pretty expensive for what you get. But nonetheless it is good value for money when compared.

The room is basic, as is the whole motel. Parking is free and pentiful. Storage space is fine. Bathroom could do with a bit of modernisation, but otherwise functional.

“Just not good enough find somewhere else to stay !”

We may be an “inexpensive motel” but we never compromise on quality or standards. We are a quality Inn by the sea.

This is there opening line on the site, could not be further from the truth. Expensive rates , fixtures in the room tatty, heating that does not work, the other side of the door in the room allows you to hear exactly what your neighbouring room mate is saying when talking on a cell phone. This is the best though, dont be fooled by the picture of the beach hammock on the web site, we tried to find this hammock to no avail, simply because it does not exist. This is false advertising in its truest form. Oh and by the way the Ocean View suite gives you a view of the next doors hotel car park ! You can see a little the ocean rom the main window in the bedroom. The only positive to this review is that room was a decent size.
You will certainly find better accommodation in better locations that Im sure do not put up false misleading pictures.
