“Needs a major overhaul”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

It's like stepping back in time to a 1970's motor lodge. Check-in was friendly, but very inefficient. I sat and waited an hour (it was after 2pm), and had to remind the clerk twice to call housekeeping to confirm when the room was ready.

Small, musty rooms with mis-matched furniture and worn carpet, broken electrical outlets, chipped tub, etc.

The location is okay if driving, but there's nothing within walking distance.

On the plus side: free parking and free wi-fi. But the free "breakfast" consists only of coffee and pastries.

Normally I would say that this is an "average" motel. But when they are quoting rates of $160 a night, I have to downgrade to poor.

Room Tip: The majority of the rooms seem to face the street. Maybe ask for one facing the pool?

“Basic but ok.”

We didn't experience any of the issues mentioned on here. Yes it was typical motel style, basic, but we found the staff ok, plenty of parking and a great location on State Street.

We overlooked the pool area, which was reasonably landscaped and not at all busy.

Breakfast was indeed, pretty horrible.

“Worst Hotel Service ever experienced”

This hotel has a great location on State Street, though it was the worst customer service i have ever experienced at any hotel. The front desk staff is horrible, absolutely horrible and just plain rude. The do not know the meaning of customer service. Very sad.
Additionally, the air conditioners in the rooms don not work, the rooms smells, and the bed are hard. You are better sleeping in your car than checking into this hotel. Trust me, if you check in, you will want to check out immediately.

“Smelly, horrible would never go back”

I'm not a very fussy traveller but found this place disgusting. We arrived late after a long drive down the coast and only because it was so late I would have walked out of the place. In fact I think we would have had a better nights sleep in the car. The room was really smelly-like damp-I think it was coming off the carpet. We hardly slept that night and I felt really itchy but I don't want to think about the possibility of bed bugs. We were both awake at 5 the next morning after a bad nights sleep, so we got up and left-I couldn't bear the smell in the room any longer. As we left we looked at the continental breakfast which consisted of a few sad, stale-looking croissants wrapped in cling film, we weren't tempted to try them. The coffee we poured was so horrible we immediately dumped it in the bin. I have nothing positive to say about this place and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

First night we had a room on the 3rd floor off next to the elevator and overlooking the street.
We could hear everyone getting off the elevator (walls apparently not very thick).
The compressor on the refrigerator in the room was on the fritz, so every 30 minutes when it turned back on it was so loud it woke us up all night.
You could hear all the street noise from our room.
The flat sheets on the bottom of the bed (not fitted sheets) kept coming undone all night and we were basically sleeping on the mattress.
We got very little sleep and were completely exhausted the next day and asked for a new room.
We were moved to the back "cottage" area, which was thankfully more quiet and the refrigerator was not broken, so we were able to get more sleep.
However, the window curtains didn't close completely to block the light out and there must have been an outdoor light outside our window because it was shining in our room all night. Also the bed was very uncomfortable.
If you were forced to stay there I'd ask for a room in the back, but I would try to stay anywhere else first.
Only two pluses, the refrigerator was quiet large (bigger than dorm sized) and the location was convient to walk down state street.
