I chose this hotel because we have a teen daughter,14, and teen son,17. We can no longer make them share a bed and don't want to put one on the floor. Suites are the way to go and this was a nice one! We arrived and upon check in were "upgraded" according to the front desk. We were in room 102 which had a patio overlooking the pool. The room was clean and large with a nice sized living room (with hide a bed) couch. The second bedroom had two full size beds. The bath was small but clean.
Breakfast:: nice cook to order breakfast each day. We had omelettes! My 17 yr old son got an omelette, bacon, sausage AND waffles each morning and was a happy camper. There were also pastries (not that appealing looking), yoghurt and fruit. The coffee was "ehh" as were the ones from the cappuchino machine.
Pool: decent sized but a little cool temp (it was also windy which I know didn't help). Hot tub was small but nice and warm. My one complaint was there were never towels at the pool. The front desk was always very happy to supply them when asked, but we had to go ask each time we went out to the pool,
Room: the water is HARD!!! Bring moisturizer and moisturizing soap!!! Their soap smelled great but did not even lather under the HARD water! Also being some bottled water...the tap water had a bad taste which I hear is just Santa Barbara in general. My husband and I took the bed furthest from the door. It was a full sized bed. I have to say that all things considered this could be the one and only reason I might not stay there again. The bed was so soft and the center sagged so much I barely slept the first night. It was like a hammock and with my husband and I both in there, we kept rolling to the center. We are not really heavy people (120lbs and 175lbs) but together we really sunk the middle! I felt like I was crawling "up" the side all night. My son said the other bed was not as bad, but there was only one of him at 160lbs! My daughter slept on the couch bed. She said it was soft but ok.
Location: really not far from town at all. Maybe 10 min. Drive to downtown. The area was quiet and noise was not an issue. There was a Starbucks not far (see coffee comment above). There are not a lot of restaurant choices nearby which is kind of a bummer. We just made sure we ate while out for the day sightseeing.
Overall it was a very good value and the suite worked perfectly for our family dynamic! Much cheaper than other suite hotels nearer to town!
