“Can't wait to go back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Our cottage was tastefully appointed with decor that was contemporary and yet reminded us of deepest Provence. Everything was fresh and immaculate, and kept that way with daily maid service. Our romantic private mini-garden was a wonderful secluded place to read and relax. The fact that the beautiful 100 year old house and lush grounds are off the well-beated Santa Barbara tourist track was a big plus for us. However, it was still centrally located enough for our plans, just minutes away from everything.
Our hostess Dominique, an artist and accomplished chef and the other staff members really added to our trip with their hospitality and excellent dining recommendations. The food is marvelous, and we treasured our gorgeous breakfasts in the charming vintage garden as well as the wine and cheese parties in the afternoons and 'midnight snacks' that are left in the kitchen for guests who feel that they need 'just one more thing'. The Secret Garden Inn seems to draw a very nice local and international clientele, and so we had many pleasant interactions with other guests during our stay.
Take advantage of Dominique's unique homemade preserves which you can spread on warm croissants. We were especially enchanted by the Cantaloupe Spice preserve. We felt completely restored after this brief but beautiful three-day getaway. Love this place!

Room Tip: Ask the staff to recommend a cabinor room that suits your preferences. They are very happy to place...

“Quiet and cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Breakfast was exquisite like one might find in a high-quality French restaurant. The daily wine and cheese reception at 5:00 PM was excellent. Located in a very private and beautiful setting in a quiet area in the center of town. Rooms are immaculate and the service fastidious. I really enjoyed staying there and looking forward to returning!

“Wonderful hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Excellent breakfasts in a lovely location. Very nice spread with wine, cheese, dips and breads before dinner. At night, one may help themselves to hot cider, homemade brownies and tea. Charming rooms, in a continental style. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building are handy but you will hear the other guests getting home late.

“Quaint, friendly, cozy, lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Our stay was perfect - comfortable cottage (Oriole... with hot tub), delicious breakfasts, brownies and tea in the evening, pretty gardens... and very friendly, helpful staff. We will absolutely be back! The cottages are smallish - we might choose a bigger one upon our return. But we had absolutely no complaints. Santa Barbara is not a cheap town -- if you want a fancy hotel, you'll pay much, much more. If you want quiet, private, and cozy, this is the place. We've tried a number of other spots for a weekend getaway in the past, and Secret Inn and Garden was by far our favorite.

Room Tip: The bungalows are small - we were not bothered by this, but you might opt to spend $30 more for one...

“Beautiful little place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

If you tired of faceless boring hotels and hotel food, if you like something different, this place is for you. This bed and breakfast is very cute. The home made food is fresh and delicious. The owner is nice and charming. The place is not cheap but it worse the money.
