We just stayed at this hotel December 25, 2009-December 26, 2009
First off, we did know that 2 nights for $50.00 wasn't going to get us a luxurious place to stay. (It was $50.00 per night but we had a $50.00 coupon for Expedia)
At first glances it wasn't so bad. When we checked in they didn't even know what type of room we had requested. So we had to tell them..so far, no biggies. Then we got our first indication of a dump upon entering the elevator.
When the doors to the elevator closed, they took forever and didn't shut completely. Their permit for the last inspection was dated SEPTEMBER 2008!! There was food smashed and cigarette butts all over the elevator floors.
We got to our room on the 10th floor. It took us 5 minutes to get in because the door knob must've been installed weird. So instead of lifting the handle, you had to push it down. The room was dark, and colder than it was outside! The thermostat was just for show..it didn't work. There were 2 space heaters in the room so we figured we'd be okay after we were done unpacking the car. When we went back down to the car to get the remainder of our stuff, only to meet a crackhead in the elevator. No joke, he was a crackhead.
We hurried to get our stuff upstairs. We saw nobody else go up to our floor till the last day, and that was the maid. This maid spoke nothing but spanish to me when clearly I am American. She pushed us to hurry and checkout. She apparently lives on the 10th floor with her small daughter who "cleans" the rooms with her. AWFUL!
Okay, so the space heaters didn't end up working (they didn't even turn on) so we called the front desk. She said if we came back down we could have the one she was using in the lobby.
That heater did work, however, it wasn't enough to keep us both warm. So I had my fiance use it because he was already sick when we arrived. We really wished we could've gone to another hotel, we just didn't have the money and it was Christmas night.
The sheets had cigarette burns in them. The shower wasn't too bad. The toilet seat was all stained yellow and stuff so I refused to use it at all.
We were so tired at that point cuz we had traveled all day from out of state that we just fell asleep. The next morning was awful trying to shower in the "icebox" enviornment that the room provided.
That morning when we left for Universal Studios, we were appauled to see all of the stuff we hadn't seen the night before. The parking lot was full of abandoned/vandalized cars. The pool had police caution tape around it. The sign looked like it used to be a Ramada hotel. They also used to have a restaurant there when it was the Ramada. That building was boarded up with bums lurking around it.
I could go into MUCH more detail but the final detail I will leave you with was that I investigated a little further in the lounging area of the 10th floor. There were a few pictures on the walls, and someone had colored out the eyes of the people in them. ***Needless to say, do not spend your money here***
