This location is about a 1000% better than the nearby La Quinta Inn location in Costa Mesa. It is a couple of dollars more expensive ($10 or so), but...that is money VERY WELL SPENT.
The hotel is nestled among quite a few other hotels...thus the address "Hotel Terrace". As usual for La Quinta, the location is dog friendly.
The lobby is large and attractive, and the staff we came in to contact with were friendly.
As far as I know, the hotel offers "suites" only. Nowadays the term "suite" can mean a lot of things, but our "room" was large featuring a separate sleeping area from the "sitting" area. In addition it featured a mini fridge and a micro wave in a bar-like setting with a sink.
The room appeared to have been refurbished fairly recently and featured a flat screen TV. We were on the third (top) floor and did not notice any noise whatsoever.
Free breakfast: I'm not nuts about the "free breakfasts" being served by many hotels/motels. However, the free breakfast at this hotel might be a little better than average. Breakfast is being served in a "courtyard" setting right by the pool. In my humble opinion, many guests will like this feature....especially on a nice warm day.
In summary: I'm rating this hotel as a "FOUR". As a dog owner, I'll go to a FIVE rating. It is next to impossible to find a hotel this nice, which will accept a dog FREE OF CHARGE.
