It was prom weekend and my boyfriend was flying in for it. We wanted to save Money and spent hours looking for the right hotel for us. When discovering super 8 I was instantly relieved to see how incredibly low the price was! When we got to the hotel room we were both in shock of how clean and fancy it was. Not only that but my boyfriend was very pleased on how friendly the staff, not to mention, the owner was to us. Especially being my first time booking a room by myself I highly recommend this place. I had low expectations before but it changed dramatically. I can't wait to go back there!

Prices are incredibly high in San Francisco but not @ the Super8 San Mateo.
The mananger, Kish and his wife are very personable and will try to make your stay enjoyable.
You'll find the location convienent and those traveling by motorcycle will like the covered parking. Free too. You will be hard pressed to find free parking once you leave the parking lot.
The rooms are just fine for the price.
This time my wife and I stayed 16 nights. Last stay was two years ago. The prices have not gone up since.
The housekeeping staff is trustworthy and happy to oblidge.
There is a Mexican grocery just around the corner and breakfast is included with your stay.
We felt at ease walking to the bay about 1/4 mile away.

This motel did not meet our expectations.

It was in a business area, and just off the California State 101 Freeway. In fact, too close to the 101 freeway. Fortunately the hotel is fenced off from it.

My husband and I saw a scruffy-looking man standing next to the hotel dumpster when we drove in. He kept looking through the hotel trash bin the entire time we were there.

The area around the hotel looked strictly business-like and a bit rough. We would never consider going outside at nighttime for any reason in that immediate area.

Also, when we went into the hotel room, we found mildew all around the bathtub area.

The room was small, and was very simple in decor. We still did not feel comfortable or safe, even in the room however.

In fact, we felt so uneasy, that we immediately went to the motel lobby and asked for our money back, and drove away quickly.
