“Great place to visit with toddlers or small children”

This place is pretty small and even going slowly you'll probably see everything in a couple of hours. We made a half-day trip out of it by going out to see the sailboats at the dock nearby, walking around a bit and then checking out CuriOdyssey. The exhibits are fun and educational, and there are some hands-on activities, similar to San Francisco's Exploratorium, for the little ones. A few animals to check out and a little outdoor picnic / playground area. There is no restaurant on the premises or anywhere nearby, so make sure to bring your own lunch. They do sell some snacks at the gift shop if you're in a bind.

“Great for young families”

It's a great little museum.

The zoo: They have a small collection of indigenous animals (e.g. raccoon, bobcat, assorted reptiles, aviary, invertebrates, etc.) The habitats are designed so kids can see the animals pretty well (as long as they aren't hiding). The otter exhibit is my personal favorite. They have interesting exhibits interspersed through out the grounds.

The museum: Fun interactive exhibits that teach mechanical science and basic physical science. My 3 year old enjoys it immensely. They have an "invertebrate" corner where kids can see bugs up close and a bee hive. The staff and volunteers are great and they have regularly scheduled programs to teach the kids about animals.

Tips:
* Summer seems a little busy in the morning with school/ camp groups coming through. Better to go in the afternoon if your little ones can do that.
* Weekdays are pretty quiet in the morning during the school year.
* They have a picnic area, so if you like you can pack a lunch.
* They also have cubbies (not lockable) to store some gear in the museum over by the bathrooms.

“Great for little ones”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Curiodyssey is a mini zoo/science learning center. My 18 month old LOVES to go inside the center and watch the marble contraption shoot marbles out (there's a wheel on one side that allows participants to control the speed of which the marbles descend down the maze). There are also two air tunnels where the kids are allowed to put foam pieces in to see which shape goes up the tunnel faster. Though my child doesn't participate in this, Curiodyssey also has summer camp there for older kids interested in different science things. Outside, there is a water exhibit where kids can move magnets to change the flow of the water, as well as a dirt exhibit. The mini zoo consists of owls, turtles, egrets, snakes, badgers, bobcats, a coyote, ravens, some eagles, and otters. There's also a small picnic area by the garden. Outside the main entrance, there's a pathway that gets you a good view of the marina, and it's right under the flight path of the planes traveling to San Francisco Airport. If your little one loves planes, it's great to hang out there (though some times windy) and watch. I'd give this 5 stars if it were bigger. It costs about $6 to get into the park for parking, and another $8 for adults for the entrance fees to CuriOdyssey. Children and Seniors cost less.

“Great place to take kids of all ages”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

This is a great outing for kids during sumer break. They can explore the exhibits then play outside in the park. Definitely work getting a membership.
Also, for boys working on cubs scout badges, they can find plenty of information.

“Great Museum for kids!”

We just visited the Coyote Point Museum and were really surprised. My husband grew up in the area and only remembered the old museum. This is a wonderful museum for kids and very inexpensive. Unfortunately, they closed the older exhibits, but the current focus is on interactive exhibits in the main building. My 3 year old would have played inside all day. The animal exhibits are adjacent to the main building. These are really nice enclosures with indoor and outdoor viewing. The 2 bobcats and 2 otters are very interactive and come over when you approach their viewing area.
