We usually stop here overnight while driving the California coast. Exit 204 off Highway 101 leads to Monterey Street and this hotel/motel is only a few blocks off the freeway.
Our rooms have been clean and well-stocked, although one thermostat was a minor puzzle at first. We had to start the fan before anything else worked. Seemed odd. Many-channel cable TV, excellent pictures. Good Wi-fi Internet, plus a computer in the lobby if you don't travel with a laptop.
There are two three-story buildings. The main one has an elevator; I don't know about the second one.
The free breakfast is OK but when the hot food runs out -- that's it, so don't wait until the last few minutes.
If you should need it, there's shopping center with a big drugstore on Johnson. Take Monterey southwest (away from the freeway) to Johnson, left on Johnson, then two-plus blocks, look on the right. Hospital a few blocks further on Johnson.
Pepe Delgado's restaurant across the street gets two thumbs up. During busy traffic times, you do take your life in your hands crossing Monterey unless you go all the way to the traffic light.
Next time we drive the coast, we'll be back.
