The Vagabond Inn is very convenient. Take the #10 bus from the airport (free) to the light rail stop. Then walk, about 10 minutes, down 1st street to the hotel. Or take the light rail, $2, to the next stop, Gish Street, if you don't want to walk. The hotel is a couple of minute's walk from the Gish street stop. A day pass for the light rail is $6, which also covers the buses; one ride is $2. It is a short ride on the light rail from the Gish Street stop to the downtown area, Convention Center, etc. You could also take the light rail to the Caltran, at the Diridon stop. Nice hotel; nice staff! Denny's Restaurant right in front of hotel.

Most of the qualities of this hotel are excellent; proximity to light rail, various restaurants, downtown San Jose. Would be nice if pool was heated, as the temperature in San Jose is mild most of the year. More customers could make use of the pool if it were heated. People in office very friendly and able to answer all of my questions.

I travel requently and often stay at high end hotels. As a publisher of a relocation guide I wanted to try an economy hotel in San Jose. I found the Vagabond Inn to be a very pleasant surprise. The rooms are clean and have a great set up for a business traveler with free internet,refrigerator, and microwave. The staff is friendly and curteous and the location is close to the airport and downtown .If you are looking for a good value for your travel dollar you will receive it at the Vagabond Inn. I came back the next week as well.
